Piero says about Eurovision:
"When we do something we always work hard. Taking part in Sanremo has been a great emotion, as well as win it, but now our big objective, our next objective is to bring Eurovision to Italy. We don't go there presuming winning, but for sur we go with the will of making Italy to get known, in Europe, to carry on high the name Italy, get Italy prove its worth at the Eurovision. Well, let's cross fingers, you never know."

I can't watch this video... 404 Not Found!

EDIT: Quoting the message we can see it!

I watched a bunch of their interviews recently but I can barely understand anything. I need to learn Italian.

If you want to know what is said in many Italian interviews, you may want to pay a visit to the site All About Il Volo. It is a thematic site, as we collect all the info, press releases and interviews in Italian and English and we provide translation.

Regarding learning Italian, I can help if you need info.

Too bad that the year of the duets is this one and not 2011. Otherwise we could have sent this:

It would have fit well among :ee: and . :)

All they would have to do is 'accidentally' mess up the staging to prevent a win.

We have to stop thinking that Italy doesn't want to host the Eurovision. If you do not want to risk it, you don't come into the race (and they stayed out for a lot of years). Times have changed, it's time to delete this old injury.

Tv ratings are not impressive but you know, there are many things to consider and I'm sure that Italy is ready to host this wonderful event. Year after year the interest around the Eurovision grows, you can see it on TV programs, online, in newspapers and so on...

When I came here and I started learning how does it work Eurovision and the importance that is given to visual performances, I began to get worried about how could Il Volo have the stage arranged to suit Eurovision. But, the more I was thinking, the more it became clear that as Il Volo is not like anyone else, they should carry on with their usual way, and don't try to do things like others, because they are already standing out.

Il Volo singing Grande Amore live, Sanremo.

Sometimes less is more, I think something like their Sanremo performance would suit it just fine. Complicating the staging can ruin the song and distract people - Ireland 2014 is an example with those dancers. With a good running order place the song will manage to pretty much carry itself.

The guys have tons of charisma...just standing there and singing as they did at Sanremo will be more then enough to charm viewers

Thank you for this video! I don't know why on the RAI website the performance of the first night has been deleted and there are only a few minutes of the other, strange decision... :?

I think that the first rendition of Grande amore has been the best. There were natural emotions and a little bit of fear for them maybe, who made the performance so powerful! I remember I had many prejudices on them and their participation in Sanremo but then... wow. I've been actually moved by this song that night. The dramatic music, their way of singing, everything was overwhelming (in the positive sense). I had tears in my eyes.

I thought: Ok, I love Nek but I honestly think that Grande amore is the perfect choice for the Eurovision.

Believe in me, I HOPE!

but I still remember what he said the italian commentator of the 1997 Ettore Ardenna in a interwiev.

He called a representative Rai in Italy and told him that everyone took the Jalisse favorites to win and they were so sure that he could bet on the Italian victory .

After some time the representative Rai called Ardenna and told him not throwing money because Jalisse , for sure , will not win ...
The rest is history

obviously it was the Ardenna's impression after the call

I know what happened in 1997 and I think that was the cause of our withdrawal but HEY, WE ARE IN 2015! 18 years have passed since then. As I wrote times and so many things have changed. Who directed Rai then, today there is no more, otherwise we'd still be out from the Eurovision. In 2011 it was definitely early but now we can do it.

I strongly believe that if you don't care the Eurovision you don't send Marco Mengoni, Emma Marrone or Il Volo, you stay out from related events like the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and don't enter the reference group like our head of delegation Nicola Caligiore. So, let's move on, 1997 is far!
