I read negative comments about Il Volo, claiming they are wannabe-Il Divo and pretentious, fake and full of cliché.

Well, if anything then the opposite is true. I have listened to dozens of Il Volo songs and every song is so touching, you can utterly hear it was your heart. This is not true for Il Divo songs, which I think are totally pretentious and fake and their pop cover songs don't do anything for me but earache.

Compare Il Divo with Caruso

with Il Volo / Ignazio Boschetto with Caruso

Which one do you like better?

My choice is clear, Ignazio is way ahead of Il Divo. This boy can sing with his heart y'all. I wish I was tenor like him.

And Gianluca is an amazing bariton, I have never heard someone like him.

I'm sick and tired of the best stuff finishing second this year.

Il Volo won a Latin Billboard Award for best album 2014

Now, that's a big deal!

And here we go. The hye train has started.

0 points. This is another pop opera that people with hype until esc but that will flop in ESC. I can't see televoters go for this.

Nina Zilli? :(

Does people really think this will win? It's France 2011 all over again, it doesn't suit the stage. Runner-up was better

first real good entry this year. not comparable with france 2011, this song has much more energy.
secure points from german speaking countries where il volo are well known already.

Ugh they had to send this. if they do use this song (what else do they have as they do covers) it will be incredibly difficult to cut pretty much a minute from it. I fear the hype as others say, it is more accessible than FR2011 but it is cliched schmaltz at its worst.

0 points? Because of your disappointment - or because you really find this so horrible?
I VERY seldom give 0 points; I save my 0s for the ESC-songs that I find really bad AND presented by singers that cant hold their tune.

Personally I like both Grande Amore and Fatti Avanti Amore. Both would be amongst my favourites this year. I know that Grande Amore is not a very fresh and modern sounding song. But I tend to like good entries within this genre. And I find the arrangement much more interesting than f.ex most of the Il Divo stuff. I cant help loving their over-the-top-cheesy video as well... :p. But again; I can fully understand that this genre in general might seem both booring, cheesy and old-fashioned to others.

As for Nek's song; it is definitely much more up-to-date. It's refreshing, with a great hook. And with a great artist - I love his voice! I will definitely be listening to this song a long time from now. It would definitely have stood out in a positive way in Vienna.

So all in all; I am happy for Italy. So far it's my clear number 1, as it would have been if Nek was chosen. I am expecting Italy to be back in top 10 again.

Well different people have different logic. I give 0 points to any song which is unlikely to end up in my top 10 of the year. So that is around 75% of the songs...

Sounds very good! It's not a song like we've seen from them last year, I like it.

With a good performance this can end in the top 10. In my top 5 atm
