I just cancelled my eurovision ticket for Vienna in protest of Nina finishing a lowly 9th place. That is an absolutely insulting result for such an accomplished artist like Nina. I hope she publicly denounces her Italian citizenship and relocates to a country that truly appreciates her talent.

they look like typical Italian waiters
That's what I was thinking  well the two Italian looking ones anyway... expect them to bring out pizza any minute

The geeky looking one looks like a character on the British soap Emmerdale... and that's not a good thing

From my Italian friend: "They're ugly and chubby and from the South." Heh... I don't really understand the enthusiasm for the song. There's no hook, nothing memorable about it at all. You won't remember the song after it's finished. Maybe you'll remember "those cute Italian boys" but that's by the by.

I see no lies.
At least they debunk the myth about the "Italian stallions":D

Well if I know should complain something on this song it is that it is almost too much of the Grande  But I will put it in 2nd place after Cyprus for now. (And no, I am not the one with bad taste, it is YOU! JK )

I have to say that, if it wasn't for this cheesy opera pop thing, the rest of the show has been strangely very good and satisfying.

Let's deal with the fact that this is the most "international" thing - apart from Lara Fabian (someone says she's already booked a flight to Nunavut for a long holiday far from the stage) - and that in ESC will do very very well. Let's wait for other songs to arrive, but this could be a winner.

Russia alone will award us 48 points.

Lara did San Remo so that the Italian audience could get to know her. She stated in an interview she would have refused to do ESC a second time.

I don't think their "international" status make them more legitimate than any other campioni this year. Nina Zilli and Marco Mengoni were not huge popstars at European level, yet they got a top 10 and the opposite is also true (cf Blue, Bonnie Tyler, Cascada, Noa, etc.). Yes, it will garner a lot of points. Will it win? I express reserves about it.

I made the mistake of listening to Nek's song to see if it was better. Oh boy, it really is. It's spectacular. It seems ESC is going to miss out on this.

You're always right, but Opera Pop almost always wins because its boost is immediate. Unfortunately it fades like a flower after just a few weeks. Let's just wait if in these three months the hype has gone, or if in ESC the effect will be the same

eurovision.tv wrote they will be the representative, so...

"Tonight the Italian Song Contest, the popular Festival di Sanremo, came to the end of its 65th edition. with the announcement of the new winner: the group Il Volo!! They will be the act representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest." Il Volo wins Italian Festival di Sanremo | News | Eurovision Song Contest

But on RAI site, Il Volo FB, twitter and even San Remo site, and they didn't say anything clear that they will be on ESC. Just look here and you wont see news about it.

Yes, let's wait and see. So far opera pop wasn't the most approved genre in ESC (wrongly imo), maybe this'll change.

I will say though that for Il Volo, they seem to not take themselves too seriously and embrace their cheesiness. I think this is where former opera acts at eurovision have failed, like France's Amaury and Belgium's Axel, as they took themselves far too seriously and fell flat on their nights.
At least Il Volo have a sense of humour about them and I think the public will respond to that.

Amaury fell flat because his vocals were poor on the night along with technical glitches. Nothing to do with "taking himself too seriously".

I disagree, among his "technical glitches", he came across incredibly stiff which was his biggest problem.

Calm down, people! They ain't gonna win nothing in Vienna. Their act is very bland. I give it no chance for the top 5.
