Delete the .m4a file from your computer please
What does it mean? I don't have any mp3 of the song in my PC *confused*
.m4a, you silly. It's when Spotify detects you have a file of the song and refuses to play it (and so does WMP unless you set it up in a special way) because the file is .m4a - it's the file that comes out after you download/rip a song from iTunes.
I don't know how I could find it
So, I haven't come around to comment really on this one.
Firstly, I must say it's not my personal top contender for the victory, however I wouldn't mind it winning and I think it would do Eurovision good after past years winners. Now past winners were original in the context, first a very serious contemporary ethno-AltPop entry from Ukraine and then an entry that sounded like it could have been taken from ESC 1950's-60's, however I think it's time for a "fun" and "uptempo" entry to win this, something that could lift people of their feet and something that actually stands a chance to become a hit "in the real world". Now this has enough personality to it to not be "just another Pop winner" and that is another important aspect, because while it would break the current trend of ballads winning, it would atleast still bring something new to the mix just like last years' winners did.
If Eurovision wants to be a relevant force in music, the contest desperately needs to be heard also after the contest, it is a failure for a show of Eurovision's calibre, being the largest music and entertainment show on the planet, not being able to produce any hit songs. Now don't get me wrong, Eurovision should be about musical diversity, showing European diversity that radio rarely would do, it should be a "safe-haven" of some sort, but it should also show that it's a force to be reckon with. I think this song has all the ingredients, it stays true to the Eurovision concept of showcasing your culture, it also brings something new and it's also contemporary enough and has potential to go viral and become an actual hit after the contest.
People call it "gimmicky", well, are we really now going to use Salvador's "worldview"? Everything is "fast food" or "gimmicky" that isn't a stand-still ballad or a standard Pop song? Now I differ from that mindset, if a song is strong enough on its own merits, "gimmicky" is not a bad thing. There are annual worldwide hits that are far more "gimmicky" than this. This is a fun and quirky dance-Pop song with hit potential, it's both local sounding and international sounding at the same time, call it "gimmicky" all you want, there is a reason this is going viral and number one with the bookies, while your average Pop song or ESC ballads will live on only amongst a certain portion of the Eurovision bubble.
I don't watch Eurovision to see how well songs chart. I don't listen to radio songs. Eurovision is a space for me to enjoy different music that probably has no life outside of the contest. If it does, then fine. But it isn't a requirement. And Eurovision almost never produces hits, and yet it's still amazingly popular and keeps bringing in younger viewers.
My interest in how successful a song is dies on Sunday morning. And plenty of the viral hits during the season have flattered to deceive on the night, because a lot of people watching aren't looking for chartable, radio-friendly songs, of which Israel is certainly one.
Netta is Verka Serduchka of Eurovision 2018.
I prefer Verka's entry and I love "Lasha Tumbai" and to me Verka was the real winner of 2007 (sorry Serbia), but to Netta's defense, this is not at all the novelty entry some trying to make it look like, this is a serious song, well produced. So it has some "chicken" sounds to it, but what people see as "gimmicky" here, I rather see innovative ways of composition and playing with the whole theme of the song. I'm surprised that people don't see the connection of the meaning of this song and the "chicken-sounds" and the fact that this is what you make when you want to call someone a loser or a coward, and basically the whole song is about female empowerment and telling stupid boys/men to back off, so with that in mind the "chicken-sounds" are actually pretty clever as a metaphor and a quirky addition to the whole production and composition of the entry.... am I reading too much into this?? Bottom-line, I loved Verka's entry, but that was more fun/novelty, this is also fun and quirky but still a more serious track. While I'm afraid juries will be hard on this too, I'm pretty sure juries would have slaughtered Verka back in 2007 had they been involved, wheres with this I can see them getting somewhat onboard atleast.
