I am going to be 100% honest here...

Right. Every year I never want the favourite to win because it's just boring and I won't win much on bets.. but this year I will not be betting on Israel (because the odds are so low) and I want them to win!

I am half British half Maltese but out of every country in Eurovision I want Israel to win! 1999 was my first proper eurovision so to me Israel is my Eurovision home. I always want Israel to win so they can get another chance to host. I want Israel to win with literally every ounce of my being! This is an amazing song and an amazing chance for the trophy to be brought back to Israel

I absolutely loathed the song the first time I heard it, but as it's such a big favorite, it certainly couldn't be that bad.. So I've been listening to the song on and on again since the release to try to understand why everybody seems to love it... I still don't get it; it just gets more and more annoying

Chicken sound is not just a random implement though. Baka means stupid in Japanese.

This is probably my 2nd favourite to win slightly behind Australia

I'd say that's just a coincidence, though; virtually any sound is going to translate to a word in one language or another. It's not impossible, seeing as it kind of fits in context, but the pronunciation and intonation are a little different, the resemblance only applies to about half of the chicken sounds, and I don't see any particular reason why the songwriters would say "let's insert chicken sounds here because they sound vaguely like a Japanese word". It's a bit of a stretch.

I've come across better explanations so far - e.g. that the chicken sounds are used in place of a particular swear word, or that it's Netta calling the guy from the lyrics a chicken, or that it's about her "chickening out" about giving him a piece of her mind before finally managing to do it in the chorus, etc.

One way or another, I'm pretty sure the topic's going to come up a bunch in pre-season interviews, so we should find out what was intended eventually.

bucka-mhm-buckbuckbuck-mhm boy is practically saying stupid boy, which is already included in the song. Not to mention the music video has implements of Japanese culture and also Pikachu in the lyrics. Normally any sound could mean anything in any language, but this case seems a bit off to be coincidence as it is directly related to both the lyrics and the video clip.

I don't really get the hype of this. I'm a big supportter for funny, weird and trolling entries, but this is just absolutely average in that special field. I don't see any women empowerment message in the lyrics either, calling out stupid to a boy and telling women they are divine, well... xclap I don't hate the song itself though, it just doesn't do anything to me.

I got caught, the song caught me. At first I heard it once or twice, did not interest me and then I heard that this song was making waves in Europe and I had to hear again to understand what the fuss was about. And today it comes to a situation that I hear again and again, even when I hear reaction on YouTube. It's addictive, you could say it's stupid, you could say it's silly, but it's addictive and it does it to me

Ok, so...

I've listened to all the participating songs enough over the past couple of days to justify putting Netta on my 2018 throne. xheat xheart

In fact, when I first heard this song for the first time, it felt like the first time I heard that Teapacks sent her song. I asked myself, "I wonder how Europe will eat it." In the case of Teapacks 2007, Europe simply ordered / received a song about an atomic bomb, In this song they get chickens.

It's already gotten a bit annoying for me. Gets old real fast.
Then again, this is literally what happened to me with Only Teardrops and Euphoria. Wonder if it's a sign.

Never seen any entry with humour get this much response from fans/media and get so few dislikes on youtube.

Aldready 5 millions!

And the song has instant appeal!
I am getting more and more convinced that this will win the whole thing.
Epic chicken girl will go viral over the net, and she will be the most talked act right after SF1.

I have been delaying a travel to Israel for the last 5 years, but if they win the contest this year, I'm coming to watch Eurovision live for sure!
( Damn Israel, why do you have to be so expensive tho :( )

One part which is contributing to the song a lot is the video (likewise as Francesco Gabbani last year). So the staging will need a really good camera work to keep the same impact.
