I really cant see why some people think the juries will kill Toy?

In 2017 most people were saying about Italy "I really can't see juries not putting this on top" and in the end Occidentali’s Karma only got 126 points from juries. Toy will for sure get points from the juries. But how many? If it gets "only" around 150 points from jury, it probably won't be enough to win overall.

I am not claiming that Toy will win the jury votes. Nor do I claim that Israel will win the televotes. I just dont think there will be a big discrepancy between how the televoters and the juries will judge Israel this year. My guess is that Israel will get a good result in both groups. Whether this is enough to win? No idea....

@ES2011 I don't think you're salty but I have to say that I don't like the picture you just posted. I worked with people that are "unique" or let's say different and they actually suffers cause they try to be all those boring forks. *sad moment incoming* Sometimes they put an end to their lives because they weren't as good as society was expecting from them and they couldn't live that life. The fork is of course not useful but only if you want to use it as a fork, we can try to make it useful or find a way to have its place somewhere.
I don't think that's what you meant (at least I hope so) but I couldn't see anything else than what I experienced with "real" unique people.

I'm gonna tell you what I like in this song in the most sincere way ( @RainyWoods if you're interested) : I tend to think that people are getting more and more serious and specially in Eurovision, the contest is trying to build itself a 'decent' reputation. We have -since a few years- a lot of songs that are not bold or trying something new when ESC was always a place to experiment and to have fun. What made ESC so cool is that it was the only day in the year when you could listen to wacky stuff that Radios won't dare to play. As it was only an evening, people were wearing fabulous stuff cause hey it's just for tonight you know and ESC wasn't supposed to convince anybody, it's already an old lady that has nothing to prove to anyone. Still those few years ESC is like a teenager that is trying to be cool (in a decent way) and being ridiculous began to be its biggest fear.

Toy is - for me - the essence of "my" eurovision, for what I like Eurovision. The most genius part in it are the chicken sounds. It's surely not the taste of everybody, we all love ESC for different reasons obviously and that doesn't mean you don't get the spirit of ESC ofc. I pictured it.. like you know it's a birthday party with "cool music" but nobody is dancing, you get tired cause you feel you heard the same song for about 2hours then we get a lil' tipsy, somebody is playing Wannabe from the Spice Girls and NOW people genuinely have fun. That how I feel with Toy.

Very well put post, however I would disagree with one particular point. You say that last few years weren't bold or new. First of all, is that needed? If they are good songs then that is the most important thing, but secondly, Amar Pelos Dois was extremely bold. Nothing like that had ever been at Eurovision, and it could have completely bombed. And this segways into your point about Eurovision not being about "radio" songs. I agree with that. It's the main reason I watch it. But "Toy" is absolutely a song I can imagine hearing on the radio. Even though it's weird, it's mainstream weird. Whatever it's result, it will likely get significant radio play. Amar Pelos Dois was never going to, and that's what I liked about it. It was made for the moment, and then it would slip away into the night.

Your last paragraph sums things up very succinctly. Everyone has "their" Eurovision, which is good, but also means people will eternally butt heads over potential winners. I can't remember how much time I spent last year arguing with people who said that APD was a snoozefest that had no place at Eurovision, because it wasn't in the "spirit" of it. That Eurovision should just be up-tempo "bangers".

The only spirit of Eurovision is diversity of song. And while I utterly hate Israel's entry this year, there is nothing else like it, and it adds to the diversity. And for that reason alone, it is in the "spirit" of the contest.

If they manage to remake the most of the video on stage in Lisbon, the 4th Victory is there to be had

Sadly no one can predict the mess a nation can held on stage. Well, with Italy now we can.

occidentali's karma was 100% fine on stage and this is revisionism created to the justify the biggest star crossing of humankind. nobody can reasonably explain why gabbani wasn't top 3 and that's okay. some things in life are meant to be a mystery. (y'all can't change my mind so don't try)

also we have no idea what juries will do with this because they don't necessary hate humour or hey mamma wouldn't be 8th with juries. it all comes down to presentation and performance, and israel knows how to play the jury game well.

The spotify version is the same as the first version that leaked. Now I'm really confused, which one will she perform in ESC?

No matter how fun and cool this song is, the juries will never rate a song with chicken sounds so high. I like Israel this year, but I am suspicious about juries. Even some televoters may find this song a bit strange.
