Wow, I'm speechless. Is the country to watch out for this year?!
"Powerplay" is a great and bold pop track (I just don't love the vocal effects on the song - otherwise, I'd probably give it 9 pts) and "Fire" is a divine, etheral, mystic folk experience with a very beautiful arrangement.
I think that a few more words in the chorus wouldn't have hurt (to make it more memorable) but apart from that, I'm totally surprised about the quality of the songs so far!
Is this shaping up to be the best NF Ireland ever had?!?!?!

If standard is maintained it could be in the running for one of the best NF’s so far

There are strong rumours that Samantha Mumba is the fast tracked act, and not Lyra, and if it is Samantha I suspect she will drag down the standard.

Listening to her interview with Nicky Byrne recently she’s seems to have fallen into the same bracket at Wild Youth in thinking it’s 2005 rather than 2025 so I expect her entry to be dated and camp.

So as long as the other 3 are as good as the first 2 I’ll be happy

don't want to rain on the parade, but Bobbi Arlos song is a bit noisy for me, it's cool but for me it lacks any variety in structure and gets pretty repetitive fast -it's basically the same thing for 2 1/2 minutes and it doesn't leave much than yea it's interesting and the beat is good but that's about it for me.
i'm not feeling the second song tbh, generally i like the vibe but melodically there's nothing memorable for me here at first listen
both are alright though but not excting for me

Compared to 2022 where we only had 1 option that would avoid last in their SF and still only finished 15th in the SF, Ireland has certainly come a long way!

Samantha Mumba isnt officially confirmed she is believed to be in the selection.

Her song is expected to be "My Way" and supposedly its already out in NZL on Spotify!

Oh the verses to this are good as hell. Sounds like something Dawn Richard would release. I think it loses some momentum in the chorus but those verses...damn.

Ill hold my hands up and admit I was wrong, I had low expectations for Samantha after her interview recently but this is good.

I'm still Bobbi all the way but its good to see we have 3 songs and all 3 are of a good standard!

Also, this is the first song to come through the fast tracked process that legitimately deserves its spot at Eurosong!

So the idiot of a host as accidentally revealed that there are 4 girls and 2 boys in the NF, meaning unless 1 of the boys is Adgy then all the leaks above bar Bobbi are false as we already have 2 girls plus EMMY & Samantha Mumba to come!

I like that the voice stands out clearly in "Fire", as opposed to the UMK songs where the vocals are all so processed. Not that it guarantees a flawless live performance from Reylta, but it makes it easier to relate to the song imo.

Fire feels a bit underwhelming after Bobbie Arlo yesterday. I like it though. I'm always down for a nice folk song, even if it's high on the ballad spectrum.

It's an interesting one because it feels like the kind of entry that if done right could just capture people's attention and do really well...but if not done right could die a death and NQ.

Overall, its the kind of song that's on paper a quality song but is it competitive?

Indeed. Reylta (& RTE) will need to be able to create an atmosphere for Fire, to draw you into Reylta's ethereal world. If they fail to do that, this has no chance at all.

Powerplay slaps, but when I was thinking, "shouldn't this song be finished, this feels like 3 minutes has passed", I was only at the 1:50 mark. And then those last 40 seconds I was just bored as felt like I heard it all already...
