Re: HUNGARY 2013
Then they didnt have time to do an NF but after Kati's entry was picked, they took very seriously the promotion. Well in Hungary it had its good consequences, as the song became #1 and ESC was a big rating success.
Last year's NF was a big success too ratingvise, also they managed to have many established names enter (fortunately it seems that this year too), and around half of the entries charted. Biga's song went to #1, Compact Disco peaked at #2 and they also released a compilation album with the 20 songs that went #1 too.
As I said Im a fan of ESC since 2007 (watched it in 2005 too) and Im very happy to see that ESC in Hungary came from being virtually unknown to become so popular in the last few years.
Actually MTV are taking seriously ESC since 2011. (new ppl in charge is the chore reason)Well, don't get me wrong either, I'm not supporting a bad song from a genre I prefer/like in ESC over a better song from a genre I'm not that big of a fan of, it all comes down to the best song for me aswell, just to make that clear
Well, the Hungarian selection 2009 was kinda messy:
They first internally selected some AWFUL Disney-pop song which turned out to be the same song as the Big Brother Sweden 2004 theme song ,
...so they had to pick another entry... so they choose Katya's entry (also internally) as their second choice, but then she declined because of her schedule. Zoli's 'Dance with me' became their third and final internal choice, which was an English version of his single 'Tánclépés'.
I do agree though that considering that they withdrew for 7 years, and then did some short withdrawals even after their comeback in 2005, with 'A Dal' it seems atleast that they are finally putting some effort, so I do have hopes for Hungary although I wasn't convinced last year at all.
But you see what I meant with Katya? That song is not that far away genre-wise from Magdi's entry (and yeah I totally agree it has a Caroline af Ugglas vibe aswell), but I still liked that one while I didn't like Magdi's at all.. so it all comes down to the certain song and not genre.
