Re: HUNGARY 2013

You had great songs in 2011 & 2012 so I have high expectations though I'd love to her a song in Hungarian as I just love your language.

I love Hungarian music!

I love Lola, Kalay Saunders Andras, Tolvai Renata, and many others! And I love their beautiful language!

This year their song was just bland!

Re: HUNGARY 2013

No hope for Crystal. They are on a seperate way (as a couple, too, but still friends). While Tibi has started a solo career, Kati has suspended her singing project (she says that she may return soon).

I would rather like to see high quality, even if it is not a winner song. We have good female jazz voices. (I liked Fábián Juli's entry this year very much.)

I would like to hear R'n'B or rock from a female singer. But not many quality candidates are on sight. Rúzsa Magdi is on of them, but i doubt she tries again. Maybe Radics Gigi(only 15!) will be a good R'n'B singer, but i don't think she's ready for 2013.

Some modern folk would be nice like Nox. Even though I like the ideas of Holdviola, their singer is not good enough. Furthermore they can't enter a folk song like Bánat utca or Erdő, erdő... they have to write their own songs.

On the language: "Dance With Me", "What about My Life?" or "Sound of Our Hearts" cries for English. On the other hand "Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?" or "Forogj világ!" cries for Hungarian. Ballads are usually better in Hungarian. "Unsubstantial Blues" may have reached a good result also in Hungarian. Our biggest mistake was to sing "Candlelight" on a mixed language, there was much more in that song. Mixed language (or singing a few rows in Hungarian) rarely sounds nice. So don't decide the language before we hear the entry, but agree that we should not force our singers to sing in English.

Ballad in Hungarian! Folk or jazzy/rocky inspired one...

I still won't forgive Katya Tompos for dropping out in 2009, that song was just pure brilliance:

Or something folky uptempo/midtempo (like NOX or Holdviola). I LUV Renata Tolvai's entry in 2012, unfortunately she was a weak live singer... but a song like that with a stronger singer!

I hope to God we won't get something as 2012, didn't like it at all, such a boring song. 2011 was ok, but schlager-pop is not my favorite genre... I prefer that song in its fully Hungarian version aswell.

Something in Hungarian and more local thank you! (doesn't need to be folky though, but that'd be great aswell).

It's not just about winning, this is a song contest where songs represent countries... it's not Anglovision Song Contest...

such a boring view on Eurovision really you have, sorry to say...

And it's not even as if they had amazing results in English anyways... And looking at the top. 10 of 2012, 50% were in native language or partly in native language... so your argument falls anyways since top. 10 is also VERY good.

Don't make fun about my "view" on ESC, i like ESC and its the half of my life. I like new pop music and english is just my favorite language. ENGLISH songs is what we play on the radios, in the north you would never hear "Suus" by Rona. But i like Suus and those songs. I like music and ESC.
So don't make me sad and make fun about that. ;)

I'm not making fun of it, but I just state my disagreement. But I don't want ESC to become a contest where everything sound the same like on radio...

And you're from Denmark, almost ALL local hits you have are in Danish.. so that's not even correct... also in Sweden more and more is in Swedish.

And I would be very surprised if most local hits in Hungary are in English, actually most are in Hungarian... and the ESC entry should represent THEIR music scene right?

I don't have anything against English, but this is not just a contest to showcase English and that culture in music only.

Re: HUNGARY 2013

Hungarian national broadcasting bodies MTVA and MTV have just revealed the rules for the 2013 participation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. They say in their press release that they were really happy with the ratings of around 2.5 million for last years national final A dal.

They will repeat the same format with semi-finals and a final, with a panel of judges consisting of Philip Rákay, intendant of the M1/M2 channels, Jenő Csiszár, radio host, Compact Disco singer Csaba Walkó and the composer Victor Rakonczai, with a fifth female member of the jury.

M1 channel will also broadcast both the semi-finals and the final live from Malmö.

Songs can be submitted until 20 December and the usual Eurovision rules apply. The songs in the national final will have to be sung in Hungarian, but the artists can attach an English version as well, and the broadcasters may decide to use them for promotional purposes. It is also stated that MTVA and MTV make the final decision on what language the Hungarian entry will be sung in Malmö. The participants also have to assure, that they will be available to take part fully in the Eurovision project and have no other commitments. MTVA and MTV also reserve the right to change the artist, the title of the song, the language and even the name of the artist or the band up until 5 days before the Eurovision Song Contest submission deadline.

The audio material can be submitted on CDs or DVDs, including promotional material of the artists as well as biographies in Hungarian and English, lyrics and the video, if available. A signed acceptance to the rules must also be enclosed. The address for the submissions is:

Eurovíziós Dalfesztivál, MTVA, 1037 Budapest, Kunigunda útja 64

Hmm nice to see that songs must be presented in Hungarian in the selection, hope they'll keep it like that for ESC aswell (and don't act like Iceland does).

Re: HUNGARY 2013

Last year they had many nice songs in their national finals, semi-finals etc. But they chose one of the worst to represent them. I hope this year this won't happen again.

I love Hungarian language in songs and I'd like them to send something in Hungarian, but if they have something good in English I wouldn't mind. But not bland like 2012...

This 16-year-old girl that won the Hungarian Idol could be a good option, she has a nice voice!

Another nice option could be Saunders. I liked his song last year, but it was quite bland for ESC. I still listen to it, though. He could sing perfectly in English too, since he's half African American.

I like this song too:

Another one:

They have other nice singers too, some of them were mentioned again in this thread.
