Re: HUNGARY 2013

Last year they had many nice songs in their national finals, semi-finals etc. But they chose one of the worst to represent them. I hope this year this won't happen again.

I love Hungarian language in songs and I'd like them to send something in Hungarian, but if they have something good in English I wouldn't mind. But not bland like 2012...

I agree, didn't like their '12 pick at all, total bore of a song.

Love the language aswell and I prefer an entry in Hungarian for sure.

This one remains my fav from 'A Dal 2012' :

Her live performance wasn't that good, but as a song (in studio version) I simply love it and I would gladly see something like that.

Not a big fan of this song, but better than "Sound of our hearts". I like Tolvai Renata in general, though. Hope she applies this year too!

I like the song of Kiralys last year too, funny fact that we had it in FSC before it was picked for ESC NF!

Well, each to their own, I LOVE that entry (would have been my fav Hungarian entry to date if chosen). I kinda like Tolvai, but she was part of the reason why the entry failed because she was very weak live unfortunately :(

Re: HUNGARY 2013

Several big names are aiming to represent Hungary in Malmo

Veca Janicsák
, finalist of the first season of X Faktor expressed her wish to represent Hungary in Malmö.

Hien (Nguyễn Thanh Hiển) is a singer who was one of the finalists of the fourth season of Megasztár (Pop Idol) at the age of fourteen.

András Kállay-Saunders – the finalist of the fifth season of Megasztár (Pop Idol) who just missed out on the Final of A Dal this year by a few points, will be back again in 2013.

Tibor Gyurcsík was the finalist of the second season of X Factor in Hungary.

Gina Kiss impressed the preselection jury last year with her entry “Chasing Dreams

Bebe & The Change were originally selected in the top 20, and were thus chosen to take part in the national selection this year. Days before the national selection started, they got disqualified because their song “Fans Will Be Friends” was found out to have been released before the 1st of September, and thus breaks the rules of the Contest

Peti Puskás was one of the finalists of Megasztár in its third season.

Some other potential candidates are Linda & Viktor Király, Gigi Radics, Anti Fitness Club,

Hmm, Veca with a ballad in Hungarian could be good!

Re: HUNGARY 2013

MTV has now extended the deadline for submitting songs for A Dal. All the composers and singers have now until the 31st of December to send in their entries for A Dal, instead of the original date which was the 20th.

In English? I thought the new rules stated that entries must be in Hungarian?

They do; they'll be translated for the NF. Gina's song in Hungarian is "Nincs visszaút", dont know about András but he sure wasnt happy about this rule :)

Re: HUNGARY 2013

It's similar to the Icelandic NF, they also have to be in their native language but will be translated into English afterwards. Actually a lot of songs were written in English and translated into Icelandic to follow the rules of the NF.

And this imo is just crazy, then why even have such a rule in the first place?

I'm very firm on this, if their broadcaster even have a rule that entries must be in native language then it's just odd and hypocritical to change them to English afterwards.

They change to English if they want, it's not compulsory.

I know? But still, if they have a rule for their own selection saying it's compulsory for entries to be performed in native language, then it's very odd to just suddenly change to another language after the selection. Then it's more honest and logical to just open up the national selection for non-native languages aswell (not that it's something I'd like, but atleast it's not hypocritical).

The national final is tailored to a local audience and some broadcasters want all of the songs in their native language for purposes of producing such a program.

It's not hypocritical if it's in the rules and there is potential for it to go either way. It seems like it's the artist's choice in what language they ultimately want to perform.

In the national selection its compulsory to be in the national language because the target audience is the people of the country. In Eurovision, they can change to English because the taget audience for the song is not the people of their country, but the people of all the other countries in Europe. Seems logical to me.
But I do agree the NF's should be mixed.

I find it hypocritical, and I disagree about the target. The purpose is to represent your country, if an entry has to be tailor-made for the European audience then it has little to do with the country it represents imo.

And no, I don't want English or non-native languages in the national selections, so we don't agree on that, I just find it less hypocritical if the purpose is to translate the entries anyways. I think viewers should get what they vote for, not something else.
