Re: HUNGARY 2013

Mohamed Fatima's song has won me over by now. It makes me wanna dance xwoo rácz gergő is also cute like he was in VIP and his song is fair enough.
Right now I could sorta imagine someone like Odett winning. But it makes me a bit uneasy to see how much support Radics Gigi is receiving for that bland piece of Eurovision-ballad. A bit like Samanta Tina in Latvia. There's no need for it, and I don't understand why people fall for nonentities like that

Oh non, "I need a hero" is a shouty boring ballad made by a Eurovision fan... Samanta deserves quite more than that...
Gigi Radics song is a very beautiful ballad. The kind that I like : not shouty, not theatrical, but powerful and touching ! :)

So Gigi for the win + her name can support jokes from our commentators ! :D

Semi 1 seems like a decent group of songs but I have a favorite and that is Gergő Rácz. I really like his song. Some may think it's too generic Pop but I really like the melody and arrangement and gosh I'm a sucker for the Hungarian language....

The Hungarian language sounds pretty awesome when sung right?

Hungary's got a couple of decent sounding songs. My favourites are from Mrs. Columbo, ByeAlex and Kallay Saunders Andras. :)

Apparently one of the big favourites is the duet Szilvi Agárdi & Dénes Pál. The guy just won the Hungarian version of The Voice.

I'd be okay with this choice mostly because it will be another step towards my vision of semi 2 being a clash of the duos.

Apparently :p I posted it on the previous page. ;)
I had the chance to meet them (we were making interview with them for escxtra) and we were discussing how silly would it be from MTV to put them in the first heat only a few days after the final of The Voice. (... and yes, they were indeed put in the first heat )

MTV started an official blog on A Dal (in Hungarian only unfortunately) I think its a great idea. ;) Here you can check it out: A DAL 2013
Also, they started inviting the participants to their Saturday night lottery show. (Where they usually have musical performances between the draw of numbers.) So far we had: Gigi Radics, Lilla Polyák and Plastikhead feat. Laci Gáspár. (Unfortunately these are full playback performances.)
And also, participants are invited to MTV's morning talkshow, today Mrs. Columbo and Tibor Gyurcsík were guests.

Re: HUNGARY 2013

Haha no problem :D Where did you hear about this then?

I just inferred it from a few polls on Hungarian sites where they are either leading or in close contention.
And they were both on The Voice, right? Their performances came up on Youtube.

Yes they were.
I dont know if you know the format of The Voice; after the auditions they were in the same Coach's team and were paired in the duels, where they sang "Where the Wild Roses Grow", which was very popular. After the duel the coach decided to let Dénes go forward and eliminated Szilvi.
Well, personally I really like their song, its anthemic and has beautiful lyrics, but I dont think it would be a good choice for ESC. :)

Other big fave in the polls is Gigi Radics.

Re: HUNGARY 2013

^ Yeah the format seems to be pretty consistent across all countries. The American version that airs in Canada has the same procedure.

Their song is alright - it just plods along and doesn't really seem to go anywhere. If they make it through the first heat they should make some improvements (if they can).

If Gigi Radics wins she should sing it in Hungarian at ESC. I'm not really a fan of the English version.

Re: HUNGARY 2013

What an extremely weak first semi-final! I’m so disappointed: only 2 good songs (“Ezt látnod kell” en “Csak állj mellém”). Sorry to say but the rest is pure crap! I hope that the following semi-finals will contain many good songs otherwise Hungary is gonna have a very hard time to qualify to the final in Malmo!

Good luck Hungary! (It seems you’re gonna need it!)

Funny, i think both of them are in the top 3 weakest in the 1st semi. The 2nd semi seems to be stronger.
I'm also disappointed in the overall quality. Fortunately we need only one good song for Malmö and there's about a half dozen that could represent us well.

Tastes differ huh so celebrate diversity! ;) I hope you're right and that stronger songs will follow in the next semi-finals. But I guess you're right and that it's all about that one song for Malmö. Besides, Hungary is one of my favorite countries in the contest. And I love many Hungarian entries: 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012. I wish you and your country all the best with the search for the perfect entry. Good luck!

Re: HUNGARY 2013

I also think that Gigi is the best and that she should stick to Hungarian because it's better than english. It's just like Gabi Toth last year. She ruined her song by translating it. If a song is written for a language, it can't always be translated because languages have different tones, rythm, etc. And on the other side, I listened to the Magyar version of last year Tibor Gyurcsik's song, and it sounds fake because I guessed it was meant to be a song in English and translated to be sold in Hungary...
