Hm, both Ben Ivory and Mobilée were a bit disappointing live imo, but I liked Betty Dietrich and Saint Lu a lot more yesterday than after listening to the studio versions of their songs. Cascada really nailed it, and I already liked their song before (even though it's no Evacuate the Dance Floor), so I'm glad they're going to Malmö! Great final really, only one song there I didn't like at all (Söhne Mannheims), and Anke Engelke was fantastic! I was kinda hoping Roman Lob would perform as well, I mean I love Lena but, well, she's already had plenty of moments in the eurovision spotlights :p.

Is it cover version of "Euphoria"?)

No, a cheap rip-off.

After watching Betty's performance I am not surprised by her weak result anymore. The song is good, of course, but she was out of tune, lacked charisma (compared to the beautiful video xcry) and the staging was mediocre. In addition the jury's zero harmed all her chances for the late part of the televote.

As for LaBrassBanda, I don't get what should be "trolling" about it. I guess many wanted something local for a change, the song itself is not bad at all (even though not their best) and they performed it vividly. Taking into account the live performances I too think they were the best act last night. xshrug

I think the concern was that every part of the online voting was virtually identical. It seemed very fishy.

I suspect the radio online polls were mostly used by fans who (legally) cast their vote for the same song on all nine websites. This is probably not the most expedient voting system but I do doubt there was any 'corruption' behind. Apart from that, even if they had implemented regional voting restrictions it's unlikely the points would of been notably more varied. Music tastes within a country do not differ as much as they do within a continent (Europe/ESC), especially when you do not have diaspora effects and such things.

I don't get these Euphoria rip off comments. Okay so it has a slowed down first chorus (a lot of songs do?) and there are three syllable words repeated (not just "Glorious", unlike in Euphoria, which had just the one word). I can see where it may be similar, but rip off, not really. I'd say it was more like an easy listening dance-pop, slightly on the generic side. But then again, so was Euphoria. Sorry hatazzz, get a life (Y).

The show was great, definitely the best NF so far this year and I doubt any other country will top it.

I was ultimately rooting for Saint Lu. It was a bit disappointing to see her be completely ignored by the radio voting but I'm glad she managed a fourth place at the end of the day.

I've grown to like Glorious and Natalie gave a great performance so I'm pleased with the winner.

I think it's Dutch? xthink
For me ESC ideally ought to be about 'representing' a country's musical landscape and that 'import strategy' is simply killing this concept way more than not so good yet local entries. See, the rest of the Big-5 (in particular the BBC) are facing lots of criticism because their entries aren't über trendy or highly qualitative although they have obviously improved compared to the noughties. German NDR, on the other hand, is receiving rave reviews with their bought songs. In my opinion, however, they're the one acting the least decent of all. xshrug

Well, it shouldn't come to a surprise that I totally agree with you... but I also don't like crappy songs though and I think it's equally important to treat this contest with respect, which for instance UK doesn't do.

I disagree, Betty had one of the more pleasant performances of the evening...

The juries seemed a bit troll-ish imo, just as "troll-ish" as the on-line voting.

I don't think the BBC is that bad recently as some pretend. They were awful from 2006-2008 but things have changed a bit since then. Not saying there wouldn't be much left to enhance, sure there is. But it's not the UK topic here so ...

Well, let's agree to disagree on that one... yup it's the wrong topic, just a comparison that's all ;)

I did not watch the others except Cascada and LaBrassBanda's so you could be right. Maybe I am just more critical towards her because she was my pre-favourite but I felt let down a bit. xshrug

Meh, Ben Ivory would've made an amazing german entry. :(
Seems a bit as if Germany wanted to follow in the footsteps of Loreen...sadly, this isn't even half as good or catchy as "Euphoria", and unlike Loreen, Cascada has about as much charisma as a dead fish. It's generic dance-pop but due to her solid European fan-base I could see this doing quite well, sadly.

It was interesting for me to listen to her German though, as she's Swedish and just like me she studied German. She's obviously studied more than I've done (afterall she lives there now), but her accent was pretty obvious.

Would you say she has a typical Swedish accent? Some said she sounds more French than Skandinavian.

All structure of a song is copied from the song "Euphoria"! As Tooji was a clone Saade, so Cascada is Loreen's clone. We remember Tooji's place? This place will be taken this year by Loreen's clone! Sorry.

Tbh I dunno what a "Swedish German accent" would sound like, it depends on where from Sweden you come from. Apparently Betty is from Malmö, Scania and her father is from Germany (although it doesn't state that he is actually German, just born there)... but she's from the same Swedish dialect region as I am which is closer to Germany, so her German would naturally sound more natural than let's say someone from upper-Sweden or Stockholm region... and to me her German doesn't sound like it would be the latter, but I can clearly hear that she has some accent (even if I'm no fluent German speaker myself).
