Re: GERMANY 2013

Amaury Vassily didn't have a high quality entry. It just looked like he did to some. AND he was out of tune. Besides, there's thankkfully many people voting who are not ESC fans. And there's the jury.

I'd rather have "we're the righteous ones" or "craving" as alternatives to the priests. Anyway, we don't even know the whole lot, lol.

Re: GERMANY 2013

I agree that The Priests have a high quality entry, but I highly doubt that it would score in the Top 10. This kind of entry is not appreciated by the majority of the ESC audience. Just look at Amaury Vassili.

Cascada on the other hand is really bland, but I bet there will be a lot of fans especially in Eastern Europe who would vote for her. In my opinion "Heart on the line" of Blitzkids is a good compromise. It's not that generic, has a nice beat and feels quite fresh due to the outfits. I like it and I guess it could even work live on stage if they don't mess it up.

You can never know that. The song would certainly stand out and I think that it would be favored by the jury. Not everything is about the result. I personally prefer to fail with something stylish then to have a good result with a bad entry. And, on top of all this, I am quite certain that Cascada would be a big flop because the song is ridiculous. A bottom 10 is guaranteed with "Glorious", I am 90% sure of that.

It doesn't matter what ESC fans value because they (or better said, we) are not the only audience watching ESC. ESC fans valued "1 Life" in 2004 and "Hero" in 2008 (that one already won ESC by a landslide before the contest itself, and some people were telling us that there is no need for ESC to take place that year as the winner is just obvious......nothing can go wrong there, etc....) as well and you can see the results of both of these entries.

Also, not all ESC fans value the same songs. I don't value cheap, kitschy, monotone, generic and bland entries like "Glorious", but I would value The Priests very much. Also almost every song on the NF is better than "Glorious", IMO.

Re: GERMANY 2013

Craiving would be an epic fail at ESC.

You might be right. But you can never really tell on the night itself, let alone with months in advance. That's (one of) the beauty(ies) of eurovison. But I like it.

(Milos-BC, "Glorious" isn't THAT bad either, lol. Quite a good lot of songs, really, I'm pleasantly surprised with Germany. Not what we're used to! Of course, we're not talking about final, live versions. Let us be aware of that...)

Do you want to win Eurovision again? CHOOSE CASCADA!!!!! Their song is a masterpiece (and I say it not being a fan of this group)

OMG I can't wait for a moment when I'll say: this is my NO 1 and my 12 pts is yours. Have a real chance to win ESC this year. Choose Cascada!

Is this song for Die Preister available to listen to? Sounds intriguing.

Re: GERMANY 2013

Many German hath-beens and musicians with no or mediocre success claim to (still) have a big following in Eastern Europe. If that generally were the truth people from there would of to listen to nothing but Central European rejects but everyone who knows a little about the music scene there knows that this isn't the case at all. I've gotten the impression they mainly use it as an exculpatory statement as there aren't official sale charts in these countries which could prove the opposite. On top of that the music which is made by Cascada does not really generate lots of loyal fans so even though they had a few international chart successes in the past I would not see them giving them a big head start in Malmö. And as said before, the song itself is rather cheap/un-appealing.

Re: GERMANY 2013

The collaborating radios finally started playing some of the songs, for example N-Joy played Mobilée, Ben Ivory and Blitzkids. They certainly have a headstart advantage over their competitors :)
I just cannot imagine these radios playing "Die Priester". Their target audience are the 14 to 30 year olds so it would be very odd to play this song between Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar

Seems a bit unfair as "Die Priester" wil most likely end up in the last place of the voting of the radio audience.

French also, you know... Tours in Russia are a famous alibi for a falling career ! :D

Well, I'm surprised you all believe one country can win Eurovision with songs that would never be aired on any radio in any country... Winning and top 10 songs (except joke songs or so...) are mostly tunes... Loreen sold hundreads of thousands copies of her song...

I know! I just wanted to say that I'm puzzled that The Priests are going to participate in the national final as they most likely won't have any success with the radios. Therefore they won't get any votes of the radio voting which counts 1/3 of the final vote. This way they shouldn't have entered the contest in the first place.

The Priests are obviously in our NF for some (or another) 'Diversity factor' - which is, in general, not a bad thing at all!

But in this case, I'm already sure that they won't even have the slighthest chance of getting the ticket to Malmö.
As they are simply quite the opposite of "Popular".

Whoever wins this, I must say I'm really impressed by the German national final this year. All the artists seem so good and original for once, well-produced songs and diverse musical genres. Germany's my favourite ESC country all in all.

I second this. I was never excited with Germany's national final like this year. It's one of my least favourite countries in ESC, but this year it will probably be in my top 5 :)

Re: GERMANY 2013

I must confess I don't really know what you're talking about. I hardly ever listen to any song from ESC on the radios. I think I heard france 2008 once, years later, and was very taken aback, lol. On the other hand, I sometimes come across hits that aren't exactly pop but are mixes of older genres with more modern sounds. There are lots of examples, but enigma are of course one of the older ones.

I'm sure nobody thought back in 1995, in a world trapped between carolas and linda martins, that secret garden could win eurovision, but they did.

Not everything is about pop and not everyone who goes into eurovision has to be eric saade. They mostly aren't anyway. They are mostly much worse.

I wonder why people are always so reluctant to any kind of change.

Re: GERMANY 2013

Why don't they let the new Die Priester's song become available? Probably I would like to vote for them (just to know how religious music would work on ESC), but this way I will end up voting for something else. I won't vote for a song I don't know just because of the "supposed" style...

What do you mean? Isn't Ave Maris Stella the song they´re going to have in the contest?
