Re: GERMANY 2013

As it seems, Germany takes seriously now the contest. In 2010 won the contest, in 2011 a respectable 10th place on home ground, in 2012 an excellent 8th place...Great! Good luck in 2013 as well! :p

Re: GERMANY 2013

What voting-power do they get? 50%? The televoters gets the other 50%?

No, it will be 1/3 jury, 1/3 televoting, 1/3 online voting after the songs will be played on the ARD radio channels

Re: GERMANY 2013

Wow Ben Ivory's song! I had not given it a listen until now.. It's utterly fantastic!! Sounds like something Dead or Alive might put out today. I kept turning the volume up on my headphones. It was soo powerful, the lyrics, the music. Everything about it was empowering. The video was fantastic too. Tricky to predict how well this will go when live however.

The quality of this National Final is quite something. It would be such a damp squib if Cascada were to get it though, based on the quality of their song. Sure it's well produced for what it is but it's just soo unbelievably meh. It will be their popularity that gets them the ticket rather than their song thats for sure. Saint Lu or Ben Ivory would be incredible choices for Germany I think. They would instantly become my favourites of the year and would take quite some beating to better.

Your post intrigued me, as I know you and I like a lot of the same ESC songs, so I listened to Ben Ivory. That is a hell of a song. Not normally my thing, but I really like it. Polished, high quality and surprisingly melodic.

Only 1/3 jury? Hmm, that's interesting. I guess there is no limit in the number of televotes you can give, but each vote will cost you money, right? What about online voting? One vote per IP?

Yes they were popular but they were very popular in the UK but they weren't as big in terms of chart success in Germany. A lot of UK forums I notice assume it's a done deal as they know who Cascada are and not the others. They assume a walkover which I doubt from the televotes and from that jury in particular I majorly doubt. The online voting not sure if non-Germans can vote?

It's not normally my kind of thing either. Infact electronic music in general often leaves me quite cold.. but this was something else. I can't say I can recall such a song ever giving me goosebumps before as this one did here. As you say it's strangely melodic and of a very high quality. His voice is incredible, soo rich. It is indeed one hell of a song. I can't stop myself from playing it! I want this to win now. It's a very bold song.

That eases my mind a little but I have no doubt that Germany is aware of Cascada's success anyway and might vote for them due to it. The fact it's a three way vote as well. If non German's can vote then I imagine Cascada gets the online vote. Jury as you say is a lot less certain. Cascada do seem to be one of the biggest, most "relevant" names to be associated with Eurovision in quite a while. Will Germany really pass up the chance of having a world wide successful dance act represent them? I can only hope they do and then maybe Germany can internally select them next year with a better song. It's annoying as I don't even dislike Cascada as a band but i'm going to be incredibly annoyed if they win when there is some incredible stuff in the running.

Yes, as far as I know there is no limit of calls and the costs for a call are rather small compared to other countries (last year it was 49 cent for each call and message I think). Don't know about the online voting, but everything else than One IP - One vote would be unfair imo

And for Cascada: I hope that after the disaster we had with the No Angels a few years ago people won't vote again only for the name and choose the best song instead - but I fear that this hope will be destroyed at the NF xcry1
