Re: GERMANY 2013

So I finally managed to listen to the available entries and I must say the full version of Cascada is much stronger than the snippet released previously. Overall a diverse group so I'm quite satisfied. This is my ranking

1. Betty Dittrich: LaLaLa
2. Saint Lu: Craving
3. Cascada: Glorious
4. Mobilée: Little Sister
5. Mia Diekow: Lieblingslied
6. Ben Ivory: The Righteous Ones
7. Finn Martin: Change
8. Nica & Joe: Elevated
9. Blitzkids mvt.: Heart On The Line
10. Söhne Mannheims: One Love

Betty Dittrich's song is a big surprise, I didn't expect this one to become my favorite but it is so uplifting and sweet I just can't help it.
Saint Lu's voice is quite something and her song is also strong so this combo screams winner but then you never know, Cascada has the fans and a solid song so at this point I still believe they're the ones to beat.

Soehne Mannheims to no surprise are my least favorite, I just don't get their music.

Re: GERMANY 2013

I've just heard Saint Lu's song and I think it's probably the best thing I have heard soo far this esc year. What a voice and what a song! I was reading in the youtube description box people comparing the song to "Satellite" which I can't hear in the slightest myself. It's like comparing an apple to an orange. I absolutely adore Saint Lu's song! I don't know if she's in with a chance at beating Cascada. I think the fact Cascada's song is rather meh could be in her favour. I want this to go to Malmo!!!

If Germany doesn't pick Saint Lu, Austria should definitely scoop her up. She's better than anything they are offering.

I also listened to all the songs known, now, here's my ranking:

1. Tie between Mobilée and Betty Dittrich
2. Mia Diekow
3. Ben Ivory
4. Blitzkids mvt.
5. Saint Lu

I'd be satisfied with any of those winning, now for the songs I'd rather not want for Germany at Eurovision:

6. Finn Martin
7. Die Priester
8. Cascada
9. Söhne Mannheims
10. Nica & Joe

NDR, the German national broadcaster has annouced that 2 former Eurovision winners will be performing at the forthcoming 2013 German Eurovision national final Unser Song Fur Malmö on 14 February. Lena (2010 winner) and Loreen (2012 winner) will both in Hanover. Let's hope they're going to perform their winning entries.

The song of Finn Martin is already used in commercials. Seems like a competitive advantage :)

Re: GERMANY 2013

For my part, I'm still thrilled and surprised, that LaBrassBanda will take their part in our national ESC-selection; I'd never imagined that. :D

It's surprising for me, as I know them as a Live-Festival-Band (f.e. Roskilde in Denmark, Haldern-Pop, etc....- in other words: Big and in a way prestigious Indie-Music-Festivals that usually have nothing, absolutely nothing to do or have in common with EBU's annual contest.) And it's also kind of weird to imagine this Band on the ESC-stage (with all it's limitations) - not being allowed to play their brass instruments for real, so to say. Great idea to send them, basically, but...can this really work on ESC? Not yet sure...(guess not)

Their final song is not out yet;
but right now they are inviting fans/people via youtube to produce their own version/remix of "Nackert" - all styles, any means are welcome (techno, orchestra, whatever) ; RMX NACKERT - YouTube
the deadline seems to end next Sunday, 27, as far as I understood; and the winner will be rewarded with a 50 l Fass Bier  (or 250 € instead), and probably published as track on their (?).

In other words: The vocal part of the song can be already found (downloaded and used for whatever ) on soundcloud right now: https://soundcloud.com/labrassbanda/nackert-stimme
And I think, it's quite inspiring, this could be something. :)

Betty Dittrich -- LaLaLa: I have the impression that I heard this one before, it might sound very similar to one song I know but I don't remember which one... It's very nice song, though. I hope it's just my impression and it's not plagiarism because I really liked it, it's very catchy!

The first ones are the only ones with which we could have sucess at Eurovision, so I really hope one of them makes it to win Unser Song für Malmö :)

I strongly believe that both Ben Ivory and Blitzkids mvt. would be epic fail and bottom 5 material in ESC. On the other hand, Betty Dittrich is able to achieve a top 5.

Oh no, I'm pretty sure that Betty Dittrich would be as "sucessful" as "Miss Kiss Kiss Bang" :D

Re: GERMANY 2013

Not in the song (because Miss Kiss Kiss Bang was way better than this ), but at the result at the end, there'd be huge similarities

Re: GERMANY 2013

I do think Betty Dittrich could be successful, it's a nice song that's different from today's average Eurovision-entry and would therefore quite stand out. Put that together with a quirky performance like in the video clip, and it could definitely be Top 10.

As for Cascada however, I think that would be a song that could easily fail at Eurovision, big names never were a guarantee for a good ESC-result, and "Glorious" is just a worse "Euphoria" IMO, just a typical ESC-song, and not good enough to stand out. In the ESC final I'd see it ending up midfield, if it gets a bad place in the running order possibly even Bottom 5. It's definitely not a song the jury would like, and as for the televote it'd really all depend on the running order.

I agree with the 1st but kinda disagree with the 2nd

I think they have equal chances to get a great result, but since they are in very different style I can't compare them! I think the jury will like the song of Cascada, depending of the live performance of course, but I think it's a jury-friendly song, plus they can get a good airplay before the contest in many countries so the public might support it. I get the comparison with Euphoria, but always when a song different than the previous winners wins ESC, then the follow-ups are in similar style, and we have similar style winners too. In 2003 we had an ethno-pop song winning. The next 2 winners were in that style more or less. And many songs that did well were also in ethno-pop style. Last year we had a trance song winning. My thoughts is that the songs of this year that will do well or even win the whole thing will be in the trance/dance pop style too. ;)
