Re: GERMANY 2013

The first ones are the only ones with which we could have sucess at Eurovision, so I really hope one of them makes it to win Unser Song für Malmö :)
I strongly believe that both Ben Ivory and Blitzkids mvt. would be epic fail and bottom 5 material in ESC. On the other hand, Betty Dittrich is able to achieve a top 5.

I second what you say about Ivory and Blitzkids. Betty's song, however, quite certainly wouldn't reach the Top5 IMHO but she could gain a decent result (like :rs: 2011 for instance, in the final that is). Another good thing about it is that is representative for the German music scene. Admittedly for the music scene of the 60's and early 70's, nevertheless compared to NDR's recent Eurovision history – entries penned by people who have no connection to Germany whatsoever – that would be a big improvement already. After three Top10s in a row including a win results now really should come second.

My favourite is Betty Dittrich, but I can't see Germans picking her. Or will they prove me wrong? :)

Re: GERMANY 2013

Germany, as always, excites me! They were my favourites in 2010 (obviously) and 2012, my 2nd favourite in 2011. And Im almost certain that they will continue this run, as so far at least 5 of these songs are better than anything out so far.

My top 10
1. Glorious - Cascada: 9/10 This song just works. I think its gonna cop some negative comments, as Cascada is a 'known' band. But the song is simple, catchy, and if performed well, an easy top 5.
2. Little Sister - Mobilee 8/10 Im a very big country fan (Texas Lightning was a favourite of mine in 2007) It probably wont work come Eurovision, but I love it. Kinda gives me a 'European Carrie Underwood vibe' and gotta love that.
3. Heart On The Line - Blitzkids. 8/10 This song is the most relevant to current pop music. Catchy and fun. Gotta love it
4. Craving - Saint Lu 7.5/10 I love Saint Lus voice, and the song is good. A good performance would definitley send it to the top.
5. The Righteous Ones - Ben Ivory 7/10. A bit predictable, but its a good listen
6. Change - Finn Martin 6.5/10 Only a few listens, but its getting there.
7. Elevated - Nica & Joe 6/10 Its an ok song, but after Icelands fail with a duet last year, I just cant warm to this.
8. Ave Maris Stella 5/10 I want to put this song higher, but I cant see this at Eurovision. Maybe the shorter version will change my mind
9. Lieblingslied - Mia Dekow 4/10 Only heard a snippet, but not great
10. Lalala - Betty Dittrich. 0/10 My mistake was watching the videoclip first. Watching her fake strum a guitar makes me switch off.

Do you know what I hardly dislike at LaLaLa? She's singing German with french accent, although she's swedish - it sounds just so strange :?

Yes, it sounds totally french to me xD "Iesch" instead of "ich" and so on.

By the way, Heart On The Line is so cool :p

Okay, so I'm not the only one who noted it... :D But nevertheless the accent is so cute
But the song is crap, it's way too old-fashioned

Ritgheous One and Heart on the line I like the most

Cascada's song is a disappointment for me

She's singing a part of "Glorious" in an acoustic version from 0:50 on - Her voice is so impressive as always! :)

I'm very impressed by this trailer.
I think Cascada is underestimated because we expected all more. But actually, I didn't hear a song with a better potential in the contest so far ! (I didn't say they're my favourite ! :) ) Plus I didn't imagine the singer had such vocal abilities.
And actually, I could give a big publicy for the contest to have big stars like Cascada.

By the way, my favourite in the line up is Mia Dekow but I have the impression that no one likes her ! :D Doesn't matter, I keep it for me !

Not an expert on Skandinavian accents but her singing sounds rather natural to me. Songs in that style back then were often sung by French artists (e.g. France Gall or Severine) who were cultivating their accents so of course it's possible her pronunciation to some extent has been influenced by them. I would see nothing awkward in that though as it is a retro song and therefore fitting and it is much better than a German singing in (bad) English anyway.

I didn't expect more from Cascada, they were always a useless act imo and I find it amusing that so much people actually did have expectations on them.

Mia happens to be my fav aswell ;)

Re: GERMANY 2013

I think the jury will like the song of Cascada, depending of the live performance of course, but I think it's a jury-friendly song, plus they can get a good airplay before the contest in many countries so the public might support it. I get the comparison with Euphoria, but always when a song different than the previous winners wins ESC, then the follow-ups are in similar style, and we have similar style winners too. In 2003 we had an ethno-pop song winning. The next 2 winners were in that style more or less. And many songs that did well were also in ethno-pop style. Last year we had a trance song winning. My thoughts is that the songs of this year that will do well or even win the whole thing will be in the trance/dance pop style too. ;)

Yes, but "Glorious" isn't really anything extraordinary in that style I think, and with "Gravity" and "Only Teardrops" there already are two songs in a trance/dance pop style for this year, with certainly more to follow, and that means a big competition in that genre, and a song needs to be good enough to stand out between other songs of the same style (and in my opinion out of "Glorious", "Gravity", and "Only Teardrops" the latter is the only song that does.)

By the way, my favourite in the line up is Mia Dekow but I have the impression that no one likes her ! :D Doesn't matter, I keep it for me !

I also quite like Mia Diekow, not as much as Betty Dittrich or Mobilée, but still, I'd be happy if she'd win :)

Re: GERMANY 2013

She's always been decent doing accoustic sitting on a stool stuff. When she has to dance the whole thing is usually very amateur. I'm far from convinced Germany will pick them.

Re: GERMANY 2013

Cool to see Mia Dekow is liked also ! :)

Btw, I listened carefully to Betty Dietrich. Clear she has a French accent when speaking German ! Actually, don't know if you know this song but it's a clear reference to Brigitte Bardot's song penned by Serge Gainsbourg, hence, I guess the French accent and the sixties style...
I'm not fond of Lalala...
My favorites so far : Mia Dekow, Cascada, Finn Martin, Ben Ivory, Saint Lu... I don't really like the other ones. Die Priester are frightening. It reminds me Enigma. I think I've been traumatized by them as a child ! :D BTW We have also a band of rockstar priests, but ours look funnier ! hahaha Actually they did a first album with covers of Church songs and False classical music with catholic lyrics... They sold thousands of album of it (don't ask me how !) and then they did a cover album of pop songs... hahaha
