Thats whats happening quite often when you are desperately waiting for something but in the end.....

this song just does nothing to me.... and she is not a good singer at least tonight

It’s not as good as I expected but it’s a nice break from the novelty mania of this year! Could be a grower. :6:

So all the waiting for THIS? It's literally like the most generic AI generated french song ever tbh. I mean she looks stunning and vocals are okay/ fine but all the hype and then this song, lol

I guess :5: points for now

It's alright, I guess? - It will be a nice break between all the more exciting entries in the GF.
I expected more when Louane got announced as the French entrant - "Maman" isn't as chanceless as whatever France did 2020 but honestly, I think it's less competitive, less interesting and less memorable than anything else France have submitted in this decade so far.
:5: from me for now.

France should be lucky to get a 15/18-ish place in the GF.

Mmm.
Well no, we're not winning this year.
But as someone who never has been really fond of Louane, OK, this is a interesting song at first listen. It follows the path of Slimane last year, but I consider "Maman" as a little bit more diverse and polished.
In the competition of powerful ballads (we don't have that many this year), it's clearly better than Israel, btw. Not better than "Voilà", obv.

Well... I do really like the beginning and some of the instrumentals. But overall, it's not really anything special. And I did not like her voice during the chorus - but given she had to perform at that height, I'll withhold judgement in that for now.

I'll wait for the studio version for my final verdict, but I think I'll like it.

I just realised that I've ranked all other (semi-)French entries (:il: :ch: :nl: :lu:) above :fr: this year Oo - Oh, Louane - I had so much faith in you [I need to listen to "Maman" again - but I strongly believe it was alright - more or less]

I knew there was so much hype around this that people would be disappointed regardless.

I actually personally really liked that, a lot. I don't think it's a winner, definitely not a clear stand out by any means but we will see. It's going to do very well for sure. I need to hear the studio version though, and the setting while was grand wasn't the best for sounding. This is miles ahead of Slimane's song from last year imo, and she sings it in a way I like. Last year he basically screamed his song and It put me off so much. I'm looking at probably giving a 10, but i'll hold off until I hear the studio
