Louka - "Mamma Mia": Judging by his cover, I knew I wouldn't get behind this. I can't stand this kind of husky voiceless artists like Claudio Capéo, Christophe Maé and co... He doesn't have any vocal signature, but I guess it doesn't really matter for this feel-good song. Typical French song that charts these days, if viewers had a say tonight, this would be voted massively I guess. For a Maitre Gims song it's... both quite pleasant and nondescript. It would flop in Eurovision, it's repetitive and doesn't have any kind of energy to appeal and engage the audience.

I quite like this song actually. I think it needs a little bit of a lift to make it more powerful (maybe just a meh studio/stage). For a Maitre song I did expect a little more, but his work is clear in this song. This is my favourite song so far, however the singers voice is not great at all and he sounded and looked like he struggled all the way through that.

Kinda hot lookin' but definitely not the best vocals.

Well Masoe - my favourite after listening to the studio versions - had a really weak live performance... Didn't impress me at all!
Lisandro was better than expected, the live version of the song got me more than the studio version! His stage presence is top! But why that high note, WHY??

Ehla - "J'ai Cru": Finally a classy and soothing voice! And she's a beautiful girl! Nice choice of cover, suits her well! Regarding the song, it began well but the chorus is not as powerful as I expected. It could be a grower, but I fear it might not be impactful enough. Cute song, I think she deserved better though. I like the sensual mood, there is a comforting atmosphere, it's well-arranged, dreamy and comes across as sophisticated in a good way to me. Don't think she'll make it to the final

My ranking after this very first listening:
1. Emmy - "O.K. Ou K.O."
2. Noée - "L'un Près De L'autre"
3. Ehla - "J'ai Cru"
4. Louka - "Mamma Mia"
5. Lisandro Cuxi - "Eva"
6. Enéa - "I'll Be There"
7. Pheno Men - "Jamais Sans Toi"
8. Malo - "Ciao"
9. Masoé - "Paradis"
Out of all this, I enjoyed Emmy and Noée in particular. But only Emmy can realistically win the NF, so... "O.K. Ou K.O." is nice, it might not be a guaranteed success, but I'd prefer this over an annoying song meant to do better. Louka was cute, that's all. Lisandro's song is too "Eurovision cliché seen by the French" imo, it's too manufactured for me. The rest is a no-no.
Overall, there was nothing shameful, but I hope there'll be better songs in the second semi.
