The last time, we had two songs sung mainly in french (meaning not just a line in French like Hera Björk or Evelina Sasenko) was back in 2007. (Patricia Kaas and Evridiki for Cyprus). If France wins, I hope this will have a washback-effect on the songs next year and we will have more different languages.

Patricia Kaas was my favourite to win in 2009. Evridiki was my favourite to win in 2007...

Not true. UK sent some of it's biggest stars after Germany's victory. Their main problems were the songs and that "the biggest stars" were with 1 foot in the grave.

So they didn't really try. It's not like they sent current stars, they sent has-beens, and with weak songs, which is the most important part of the entry.

Well they tried to win 2011, and then when we flopped to 11th after everyone having very expectations the BBC kinda went meh again. France is more tragic than us at eurovision, Germany nearly always did that bit better than we did. I imagine a French victory would mean a serious attempt from the BBC next year, and next year only.

As I was writing I was thinking that, they did try a bit harder in 2011, but they went off the rails immediately the year after. It's kinda like what happened in 2009. They got a great result, 5th place, but the year after they chose that monstrosity of a song internally.

People said that when Germany won and it didn't really happen.

Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic. If France wins, it will be the second Big 5 winner this decade after having been considered a hopeless case for many years. Italy has been quite successful anyway winning both the jury vote and the popular vote in recent years (tragically for them not in the same year) so this would only leave Spain and the UK. If that couldn't change anything, what could? Spain winning too?

Well if Spain, Italy and France end up winning in the next few years the BBC simply will have to be forced to step up their game, that's for sure

I love France as a country and I wanted to see them shine for a long time but I don't think it will be this time. This situation reminds me of 2011 when all of the bookies' favorites failed to achieve a good placing.
"J'ai cherce" is a good song, it's pretty catchy & Amir seems nice but it doesn't give me winning vibes. His live performances were kinda boring & his voice didn't stand out either.I predict top 10 but not top 5 and definitely not top 3.But again, I want to see France high on the scoreboard.

If he wants to win, he has to have proper coreography that suits the song!

There will be no dancers, just backing vocalists. Amir described the staging as impressive, modern and elegant. He also said that the french TV Studios doesn't have the necessary technology to recreate it. It's something very visual
The biggest music video production in France have been working on it since February. They're definitely planning something big.

An example of what they've already made in 2014

There was a big difference between 2011 and now, and that was the style of song. In 2011, the French took a humongous risk by submitting an operatic ballad in Corsican which eventually didn't pay off because opera is a very tricky genre to pull off at Eurovision to begin with. Five years later, they offer an up-tempo, bilingual pop song with a catchy chorus that many are saying is the strongest French song in years

I am certain that regardless of the outcome, the French will get its best result in a long time

I do have a feeling this will win.. Anything could happen of course and they need to nail the performance. But it's the most obvious choice. :)

Amaury and French delegation did a so big disaster that time... now a new era has come for France into the contest. (Plus, Vassili was EVEN MY FAVOURITE before the Contest.)
