The french juries:
- Roberto Ciurleo (Chair person), 46, Virgin Radio Manager
- Pat Angeli, 54, Radio journalist/Music specialist
- Dominique Mattei "Dumé", 34, Singer
- Sarah Cailllibot, 31, Singer
- Léa Ivanne, 55, Songwriter

Again, those are complete strangers to me. Who are these singers I've never heard of? I wish I could join the jury myself  I've been a singer in a parallel life.

I saw this picture on Twitter this morning, there's a giant poster of Amir on the exterior of the FranceTélévisions HQ in Paris

I think J'ai cherché is a great song to listen to, dance on, or relax with, but in my opinion it's not the best song to watch being performed. I'd like to see France winning however, but I'm not sure it will actually fight for first place.

After all I have read and heard around the internet I would say that France is the ONLY entry who could even come close to preventing the programmed Russian victory.
And therefore Amir has my full sympathy, good luck!!!

Since it looks like my personal favorite Iceland is not going to win based on polls, the odds and Björkman's opinion, I really hope for France to win.

Amir would be a worthy winner and I think the song could have mainstream appeal outside of Eurovision. France winning would certainly have a positive effect on the contest and it's always great to see a country win after a very long time. It's been 39 years since France won and four out of five French wins were in the 50s and 60s, so it's really time for France to win again. In the all-time ranking France looks good but in my lifetime they have achieved nothing. It would be great to see a modern Eurovision in France. Maybe a French victory would motivate the BBC to take things more seriously and I'm curious how France would host the contest.

The last time, we had two songs sung mainly in french (meaning not just a line in French like Hera Björk or Evelina Sasenko) was back in 2007. (Patricia Kaas and Evridiki for Cyprus). If France wins, I hope this will have a washback-effect on the songs next year and we will have more different languages.

People said that when Germany won and it didn't really happen.

Well they tried to win 2011, and then when we flopped to 11th after everyone having very expectations the BBC kinda went meh again. France is more tragic than us at eurovision, Germany nearly always did that bit better than we did. I imagine a French victory would mean a serious attempt from the BBC next year, and next year only.

I wouldn't call UK's 2011 result "a flop".

Well no, i'd be thrilled with 11th, but when everyone expects to win 11th isn't so good.

Well, they had to put realistic expectations at Blue tbh.

My thinking is that we would have been a lot higher if they didn't have meh staging and been a tragic mess in their jury final performance tbh. We still got 5th in the televote.

Agree on the staging. It was really messy and they didn't sound vocally good tbh. Maybe the pressure was too big for them, dunno.

The difference between Amir's song and Sergey's song is that "You are the only one" catches you instantly while "Je whatever" requires more time from the viewer to be appreciated. Not a good sign. Sorry.

Hmm I actually feel like the contrary is the case - We'll see in 2 weeks, I guess.
Btw just because you obviously want Russia to win you don't need to be disrespectful - That "Je whatever"-bs was just unnecessary. ;)
