The battle is not gonna be between France and Russia, it will be between Russia and Ukraine.
I seriously doubt that.

Well, the more I listen to the song, the less I see how this could trouble top places actually. Unless we've got a staging that takes it to the next level, I can't see us do as well as most people think.
As I said earlier, that's very standard to my French ears, but it's catchy, which is the most important factor to most viewers I guess?
If Heroes won, then everything is possible, but I'd be surprised if that song won tbh.
Well Heroes was the EBU chosen one that's why it was possible otherwise if things had played out fairly Sweden would have been a distant third and we would be going to Turin or Rome this year

Yes, you said it: "Catchy". The french entry this year is very catchy and instant. That is always a good thing in a competition like the Eurovision. Amir will probably also come across the screen as a very nice and likeable young man; always smiling and with moves that can seem a bit "amateurish" - but charming indeed!!! If at the same time he neals the vocals - I think France will be right up there fighting in the top 3. The song also will appeal to all parts of Europe.
Amirs big contender, Sergey, on the other had; will seem utterly professional, I expect a great show from the Russian team. And he has the advantage of being known to many people. But I think many Europeans will go for the less pretentious act... Remember 2010?
I get you except that Satellite was fresh to listen to (we never heard a song like that before in the contest) and memorable due to the way it was performed (Lena's style). IMO, J'ai cherché doesn't stand out as much as Germany 2010 in these regards to win, but it seems like my opinion is unpopular, so good for him

Is it though? When it was first released, everyone just kinda shrugged. Then like two weeks later, everyone decided they really loved it.
