The thing with Big 5 this year is, we have:
  • Italy consistently being a powerhouse (I am still not a fan of the song)
  • France coming up with something different and has been shaking things up since 2016
  • UK and Spain basically snapped and gave us something better than usual.
    • For UK's case, they got the performer right, the song is alright IMO.
    • For Spain, Chanel is a star and they came out with a super polished performance.
  • And then Germany, it's not a terrible song per se and Malik seems like a competent perfomer.
But when you compare Germany's entry as an entire package to the other 4, it sure going to look like it falls short.

I really love Italy this year but on my spotify list. I’ve always said this wouldn’t work live it’s just awkward IMO. I could be wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bottom 5 for them.

Spain is not screaming winner to me. The performance in the NF looked way better. Here the staging lacks something. Probably it has to do with the lights. It ahould be a lot darker but with tons of color. Like when you are at the club. No ideia who will win this year. Literally no clue.

Wow. So the UK is the only country which got the 2nd half.

This means that there are 11 to 12 2nd half slots left for semi finalists ;)

The rehearsal didn't go well. But I don't agree with you on the rest.

Brividi for me is even better life. It's their chemistry that elevates the song. We saw that in San Remo.

Bottom 5? Come on...

I simply don’t feel they are able to bring it. I can listen to the studio version for hours, but I can’t stand the live version. But I might be wrong. Let’s see what happens on the 14th :)

France sounds great. It seems that they have worked on their vocals.
They didn't change much about the staging (it was already fine) but I really like the dead sun in this performance...surrounded by that poisonous/toxic green colour, it totally suits and compliments the vibe of the song.

Italy was horrible. It's such a beautiful and honest song but it got butchered on stage. Both sounded exhausted (probably due to them giving concerts). If you don't come up with a sing along tune or pop banger...if you don't invest in staging ideas, you need to nail it vocally. It was simply unpleasant.
I don't think that they will fix the staging (and the horrible and out-of-place lightning) but they really need to find their harmonies again.

I can actually see them finishing outside the Top 5.

Spain:
Leaked videos with "Do not record the screen" will be the reason why the EBU will propbably not allow any fan accreditation to attend the 2nd rehearsals. We're getting there at some point, imo.
That said, Spain will look fine on TV - especially ad the opening act of the competition xD

UK:
I'm glad Sam sounds fine and he looks very charismatic, charming, joyful, vivid and confident on stage and that's everything "Embers"'s performance was not like! That's a huge advantage to other entries and performance this year as well but I also agree with previously made statements that the big props don't really look that well in the clip. I'm slight disappointed how it translate on TV.

I never expected Italy to sound good live. I've only seen the one San Remo performance and it sounded pretty bad to me.

I don’t think Spain will be the opener. Among uptempo songs I think it’s the most energetic and bombastic entry, so the producers will prefer to gradually build the momentum. I can see many other entries opening the Final if they qualify and get the 1st half slot, like Austria, Albania, Cyprus, Israel, San Marino, etc.
I agree. Chanel is the most energetic entry of the year - as a producer, you certainly do want to start with a bang, but you don't want to start with the biggest one, plus there aren't as many bangers to begin with. You want to save something for later on.

I feel :ie:, :at: or :cz: could be the chosen openers (if they qualify and draw the 1st half).

So the Big 5:

France looks amazing, they've done an excellent job with the staging and they also sound good. Depends on who qualifies of course, but I think it will stand out a lot.

For Italy, I won't judge them vocally cause it seems that they've been busy, however when it comes to the staging, the part that Blanco starts to sing for a second time is fine but the earlier part has too many lights and they flash way too much for no reason. I need to see the whole performance but if this is from the better parts of the performance, I don't think it should be in the top 3 at least.

UK has a great and very charismatic singer but I'm not really sure if that structure serves any purpose. It doesn't really seem to add anything to the performance, though it doesn't look bad either. It should be enough to get UK somewhere between 13rd - 17th place I believe, maybe if there is more going on, even a bit higher.

Spain looks great as expected and she also sounds really good too. I'm not sure if it is enough to win, but it should get at least 7th place.

I'm not very keen on Germany's staging. It is a decent performance and song but that's it.

You dont want to start the show with someone that needs backing vocalists to sing over the main singer to disguise their inability to sing consistently as a show opener

I never expected Italy to sound good live. I've only seen the one San Remo performance and it sounded pretty bad to me.

It sounded extremly bad all of the 3 nights of Sanremo. They have never pulled off a decent performance.

They've chosen this entry out of primitivism:

1. Because they always send male artists, few women being exception, and it was performed by 2 popular male performers in Italy

2. Because it is an Italian love "serenata"

3. Because the ESC bubble and press favorite LRDL with Ciao Ciao were declared in comments as "pitty they are communists", while the Sanremo hosts spent 2 nights sucking up live to con president Matarella.

Their performance of the song is inaudible litetally and yet we will have them in the Grand Final while more decent entries and great vocals with better staging will stay in the semis not qualifying. It is totally unfair.

And the hype about this is not unreal, but surreal. So many people pretending to be deaf mesmerize me!

I can’t believe that all the big 5 actually have decent songs and stagings!

Especially :fr: was like „black sun is not there on purpose? We don’t think so. Let’s just it in the best way possible!“

The biirlg 5 this year is really good. Really really good. Even Germany I could see having a decent placement tbh.
No girl... Big 4 are from good to amazingly superb and Italy was meh. You might like the song but the rehearsal was pfff... And I havent even seen it but I know and how do I know? Because I know.

Why is Italy always so meh at staging? 😫
Wtf? Italy had so good stagings in previous years, not at every occasion but in most cases. I even didn’t get all the fuss about Mahmoods staging back in 2019, I really liked it.

Relax about 1st and 2nd half everyone it’s really not THE most important thing for a good result. And I find it quite inappropriate btw if some people say „this country deserves 2nd half more than that one…“
