I placed Spain to be the opener in the ESCUnitedVision game as well.
I agree with you guys.
It's as energetic as "El diablo", very catchy and is accompanied by an eye-catching and mesmerising performance.

It's the epitome of an opener, imo.

If Spain doesn't get the opening spot, it's just because of the country being part of the Big 5...

It's strange, with the strong potential of the spanish performance, i don't think one second they would be nasty enough to put it 1st.

United Kingdom's Second Rehearsal Clip

I don't think that this prop added any value to the song which is already great and performed by an outstanding man.

The prop just caged him, while the meaning of the song is to set us free from constraints.

They should have chosen simple futuristic elements.

E.g. a universe on floor LED appearing as Sam falling through, stars and planets on backdrop. And that Black Hole Sun would've even fit in this concept!

Sorry but staging is wrong. He is still in my top 5 though.

If it was the Eurovision Dance Contest she'd absolutely win but Slo Mo is really nothing special, the most interesting song of the Big 5 this year is by far France

Well, each of the Big 5 songs got different focal points to offer (like most of the songs in the semis). Spain's a performance-focused one, the UK is vocal-focused, France offers some cultural outlooks and interesting music production, Germany offers easy listening and relatability, and Italy offers emotions and simplicity. Specifically for France and Spain, they also cater to different listener demographics, which makes the comparison less apple-to-apple.

France sounds great. It seems that they have worked on their vocals.
They didn't change much about the staging (it was already fine) but I really like the dead sun in this performance...surrounded by that poisonous/toxic green colour, it totally suits and compliments the vibe of the song.

Italy was horrible. It's such a beautiful and honest song but it got butchered on stage. Both sounded exhausted (probably due to them giving concerts). If you don't come up with a sing along tune or pop banger...if you don't invest in staging ideas, you need to nail it vocally. It was simply unpleasant.
I don't think that they will fix the staging (and the horrible and out-of-place lightning) but they really need to find their harmonies again.

I can actually see them finishing outside the Top 5.

Spain:
Leaked videos with "Do not record the screen" will be the reason why the EBU will propbably not allow any fan accreditation to attend the 2nd rehearsals. We're getting there at some point, imo.
That said, Spain will look fine on TV - especially ad the opening act of the competition xD

UK:
I'm glad Sam sounds fine and he looks very charismatic, charming, joyful, vivid and confident on stage and that's everything "Embers"'s performance was not like! That's a huge advantage to other entries and performance this year as well but I also agree with previously made statements that the big props don't really look that well in the clip. I'm slight disappointed how it translate on TV.
