It's not a non favourite, but certainly was the worst rehearsal of the day amongst the big 5... No problems admitting it.

Agree. It's just rehearsals anyway. They have the full week to rest and recover. But even so if things don't work out as planned eventually, I personally don't think Mahmood and Blanco are in to win it anyway. Winning the contest will just be a bonus, but even if they don't, it's a GREAT exposure for both artists especially for Blanco to the international audience. So they are in a good place regardless.

Considering the rehearsal are in full-performance mode, I wonder if Italy's whole package is really, really not that special. I mean, the press might have their own biases/favorites too, and yes, Mahmood and Blanco isn't on their prime tonight, but if only 2% of the press favored Italy's rehearsal and even Germany got much bigger amount...

I mean Italy hasn't been the strongest in staging their songs. It's always been the artists and the songs doing the heavy lifting. So when the artists are not sounding their best, with a basic staging, there is really nothing else beside the song to garner the attraction.

And to be honest, this song doesn't need fanciful staging anyway. It has always been about Mahmood's and Blanco's interaction. But now both of them are so tired from all the touring and it's just rehearsals. With the amount of rest, they should recover by the actual performance. So hopefully, they don't have much plan throughout next week.

And there we go, with the last rehearsal clip for the season from Germany, my general thoughts:
  • France
Oooh! Love what they did to the black sun. It's really smart to project LED motifs on it. That's really smart of them. Looks like a hot performance, the hottie Alvan is sweating like mad. The camera angles are still shite though. So many performances suffer from poor camera angles.

  • Italy
Sorry, that's vocally pretty tragic. But I can understand since both of them have been busy touring for the past weeks. They just need the time and rest to recover. Staging looks really simple. The strobe light effects remind me of Czech Republic's one though.

  • United Kingdom
Seems like Marvin Dietmann and Dan Shipton have done wonders for the stagings for their entries. The way they brought the prop to cover the sun with no LED background in the back. Very clever! But the lightings are so bright, Sam looks washed out, they need to do something about it. Still not a fan of Sam's facial expressions when he sings.

  • Spain
Again, flawless, sounds good. Basically, there is nothing they need to change the NF performance. My only issue is, the camera angles. Why are they so static? They need to be more dynamic.

  • Germany
Pretty much nothing is going on. It's a one-man band staging, looking kinda intimate. He sounds good too.

I don’t think Spain will be the opener. Among uptempo songs I think it’s the most energetic and bombastic entry, so the producers will prefer to gradually build the momentum. I can see many other entries opening the Final if they qualify and get the 1st half slot, like Austria, Albania, Cyprus, Israel, San Marino, etc.

In any case, being the opener is not a bad draw either, even Laura Tesoro reached a top 10 being an opener.

Italy's entries have been very classy, imo (apart from Emma whose performance was quite tacky, imo - and I agree with the statement above that Nina Zilli suffered from the lack of a great staging for her song). Most of them didn't need innovative ideas or eye-catching moments.
Their songs speak for themselves and the artists had enough charisma and talent and even grace.
Take Marco Mengoni's performance,.for example. He was just wearing suit and tie and performed his absolutely stunning ballad. He didn't need anything else (similar to Anouk that year).

"Brividi" is such an entry as well - a classy/quality entry...two great artists full of charisma and talent.
The lightning explosion we saw on that 2nd rehearsal contradicts these criteria, imo.
It looks totally out of place. It's unnecessary.

:fr: I like the green lighting. This looks fine enough but I'm also pretty certain this will be one of the fan fave flops of the year. It's lacking the style and polish of Go-A's electronic folk entry last year, feels a smidge tacky and I fear it being a total miss with the jury. I think this could finish in the 20s.

:it: Hmmm vocals really aren't the best here but we know they can do better, so shouldn't be a problem on the night. The pair just look very tired. Nothing too noteworthy with the staging here but it's the kind of song that doesn't really need a big push with visuals.

:uk: He looks great (I want that outfit). Fantastic charisma. Vocals are strong. Staging is alright. I kind of wanted more but perhaps this is for the best. I'm still not sold to be honest on us being a frontrunner this year. My guess would be 11th-15th with a Malta style jury carry.

:es: World class performance as expected. With Albania disappointing, Chanel really has zero competition in her field. Should do very well with both the jury and public vote. Top 10 I feel is pretty much a given, and top 5 is very much in reach.

:de: This staging would be fine for some gnarly fuzzy garage rock number but feels so out of place here with this teeny-bopper pop. I don't mind what I'm seeing visually but it's a mismatch for the song. This will struggle.

I like it. It reminds me of those 2020 COVID-era live clips where it's filmed in an empty venue with the artists having some 'intimate' camerawork while singing from a mic.

From what i saw :

France : I love it, well done !
Italy : nothing special
UK : I would say nice staging, but there is no wow effect in this clip
Spain : I miss the led screen she had in bernidorm fest that fitted awesome
Germany : Yeah it looks good... but do not expect a big miracle.

Wait .... that is not terrible .... o_O
60 jury points incoming.
There. I said it.

I still think it will be 0 points in the televoting but he sounds great I that clip, it somehow feels personal and intimate, no black and dead sun and actually, I like the camera movements.

If Montenegro or Ireland qualifies, we won't be finishing last next Saturday!

Seeing as Cinan is a borderline Mahmood serial killer maybe it wasnt just them in there
I don't want to be mean at people individually, but from a more professional point of view, what does this guy offer them? I really can't spot anything.

Also, they have a guy that pops up at every rehearsal clip on their Twitter, lol. It's so cringe.

I could see this grabbing some jury points as well now. But 60? I dunno. Maybe 20 or so.
Anyway we`ll have to wait and see.

After the second rehearsals the overall odds aren't changing that much. Ukraine being sold top with Italy and Sweden struggling behind. Gb has gained some points, but still 4th.
To me we have to guess who s going to come second because the wining isn't questionable. The difference is huge
