No wonder. It's always the returnees that are winning the polls.

But last Year Alika won the Polls?
And Stefans Popularity 2 Years ago made totally Sense and had nothing to do with his Returnee Status.

I‘m quite in love with Daniel Levi‘s song and I also think that it has the most potential for Eurovision. A very captivating composition somehow. Nice progression over (almost) the whole song. Only the end feels a bit in your face and unfinished.

Tumblr, mostly.
I've heard the recap. So if you're aware of where my loyalties and tastes lay, here's an updated stance:

DANIEL LEVI YOU FUCKING TRAITOR.

Anyway, I've heard only two in full, and i'll wait for the rest to drop on the oo-toob because lmfao at giving my personal data to this misguided broadcaster.

So one of the songs i heard is Serotoniin and it's like an Estonian Nochentera so obviously very good (what else do you expect? Lõhmus knows his game :-) ), but also the sort of good will be dismissed by the Estonians. Maybe ~SVEN POWER~ will be enough to barely make the finals like m els did last year. Here's to hopin'

The other one is ... very not good. It's Dreaming. Good god. I don't know whether to laugh or cry? I'm HONESTLY tempted to lean towards laughing for what is surely the first eurovision song to have been fully composed (and performed by) an AI. Migraines from both the sonic AND cognitive dissonance caused by these pitiful excuses for music and lyrics. It's Our Choice on ACID, except instead of finishing last in a Eurovision semifinal, it will finish last in an Eesti Laul semifinal as this time around nobody's fucking husband died.

I may copy the above paragraph for the reviews too :-)

I've only listened to 5Miinust x Puuluup in full so far, but I'm completely obsessed with it already. Happy to see 5Miinust in the competition, they've made quite a big leap in my eyes from making trashy party rap in the early years that I disliked at the time, to somehow having artistic vision, ambition, sensibility and intelligence that's quite rare in our pop music scene that simultaneously manages to mesh well with the sense of humour, fun and irony that's typical in their music. I'm also a fan of Puuluup and their recent collaborations together, which has resulted in something weirdly brilliant. I have to listen to the other songs once more as I only watched the ETV show, but regardless of how they do, I think it's gonna be the one that stands out the most to me in the midst of well produced but mostly banal stuff that just takes itself way too seriously. Didn't mind most of it though, I think the level this year is quite decent.

The section is quite uninspiring tbh. The biggest disappointment was Ollie. The same concept as last year, nothing new to surprise us.

Three songs that are still okay to me are:

Anet Vaikmaa – Serotoniin
Cartoon Ewert Sundja - Oblivion
Daniel Levi – Over the moon

Doing this ranking was really tough, I really don't care for most of these songs. The ones I like still have something missing that would make them really great.

01. 5MIINUST, Puuluup - (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi (Electric Callboy meets Go_A vibes, this is memorable and just really fun)
02. Traffic - Wunderbar (It's really catchy and a well done eurodance track)
03. Daniel Levi - Over The Moon (Love his voice, not really going anywhere sadly, still very nice)
04. Ollie - My Friend (Sounds like a Smash Into Pieces reject and also quite dated and not catchy enough)
05. Multikas & Ewert Sundja - Oblivion (Something is missing...like...a chorus. The mmmmhmhm is a letdown)
06. Cecelia - FOMO (Something is missing, I don't know)
07. Anet Vaikmaa - Serotoniin (It's cute and fun... really didn't need to be 3 minutes tho)
08. Uudo Sepp & Sarah Murray - Still Love (A song for the credits of a romance movie but it's cute)
09. Carlos Ukareda - Never Growing Up (We've all already heard this song before but better... also a song for movie credits)
10. Brother Apollo - Bad Boy (Bit cringe and not going hard enough, sounds like a Blind Channel demo)
11. Inga - No Dog On A Leash (Absolutely going nowhere but I like her vibe)
12. Yonna - I Don't Know About You (It's okay,)
13. Sofia Rubina - Be Good (I actually kinda hate it but I enjoy her energy)
14. Nele-Liis Vaiksoo - Käte ümber jää (It's okay)
15. Antsud - Vetevaim (Could've been shorter)
16. Ewert and The Two Dragons - Hold Me Now (The imagery is pure kitsch)
17. Ingmar - Dreaming (He's truly weaponizing that BFA)
18. Silver Jusilo - Lately (Don't like his voice and the song does nothing for me)
19. Laura Põldvere - Here's Where I Draw the Line (Queen of really forgettable boring songs)
20. Peter Põder - Korra veel (Using stolen art for your video: Trash.)

The only three I like are Ollie - My friend, 5MIINUST, Puuluup - (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi and Anet Vaikmaa - Serotoniin. One of these three and I'm fine I guess.

Ps: Not a good year overall for Eesti Laul. There have been way better editions.

I'm absolutely in love with My Friend. First time I listened to it, I thought it's mediocre and didn't really like it, but now I just can't get it out of my head. It's kind of funny, since I was not a fan of Ollie's entry from last year.

Lots of interesting choices for Estonia this year! In no particular order, my five picks:
  • "Wunderbar" by Traffic is kinda amazing, surprising from Traffic, but I'm not sure it's really that competitive...
  • "Bad Boy" by Brother Apollo is like the cool child of Blind Channel, and that's more what I expected from Ollie (not a fan of "My Friend", honestly). Probably right side of the scoreboard, but let's wait for the live
  • "I Don't Know About You" by YONNA: if I have to save one ballad, it's this one - and definitely not Laura's snoozefest or Uudo Sepp's sucrose overdose
  • "(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi" by 5MIINUST & Puuluup. I don't really know what it is, but it's fun without the cringe. May become a televote smash
  • "FOMO" by Cecilia. OK, this is REALLY cool!
Maybe a wildcard for both Cartoon & Daniel Levi, ironically, even if I was expecting more (or more cohesive) from them. Anet, Inga and Peter are possible acceptable choices. But aside "Bad Boy", the automatic qualifiers are pretty mediocre and do not deserve their spot.
