Overall a reasonably decent year I'd say.
We've had better, but certainly far worse too.
Could always use more songs that truly stand out, doubt we'll be winning Eurovision with any of these, but I can say I like over half of them well enough, and even the rest are at least tolerable. Probably doesn't hurt we have quite a few electronic & dance songs this year, which I personally like.
I'm guessing the winner will be one of Ollie, 5Miinust or Daniel Levi. Can't rule out Anet Vaikmaa either.
And obviously there's a chance that live shows will change things around, favorites might disappoint or someone else might surprise. Biggest question mark is 5Miinust.
Will it come off as a fun catchy package that audiences will love, or a messy cacophony of randomness? Will it achieve more mainstream popularity or go the way of something like Parmupillihullus, having it's fair share of fans but being too weird to really contend for victory? Also not sure if it's something the international juries in the final (presuming it gets there) will really get behind.
But we'll have to wait and see, live performance will matter a lot in this case.
Of the three most likely winners, I'd personally pick Ollie or 5Miinust.
Daniel Levi's song is cute and wouldn't be a terrible winner, but IMO a missed opportunity to send something more interesting than another passable ballad. Would be cool to finally send a rock song, or go totally crazy and pick 5Miinust.
But I shall wait to see them all live to make up my mind. Will be interesting to see all the electronic songs live too, those can be hard to pull off on stage.
In other news, we get to vote 30 cents cheaper this year!
From €1.70 to €1.40! Still a little too expensive IMO, but better than nothing I suppose. Might be able to squeeze in an extra vote or two.
