Songs I am okay with:
(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi
Serotoniin
Vetevaim
Over the Moon
Wunderbar

Everything else is boring mediocrity.

Hoping for 5miinust x Puuluup victory, but they could be a complate mess live.

:12: Ollie "My Friend", 5miinust ja Puuluup "(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi"
:10: Traffic "Wunderbar", Multikas & Ewert Sundja "Oblivion", Antsud "Vetevaim"
:8: Cecilia "FOMO", Peter Põder "Korra veel", Anet Vaikmaa "Serotoniin"
:7: Ewert and The Two Dragons "Hold Me Now", Daniel Levi - Over The Moon, Inga "No Dog On a Leash"
:6: Brother Apollo "Bad Boy"
:5: Carlos Ukareda "Never Growing Up", Uudo Sepp & Sarah Murray "Still Love", Nele-Liis Vaiksoo "Käte ümber jää"
:4: Ingmar "Dreaming", Yonna "I Don't Know About You", Laura "Here's Where I Draw the Line"
:3: Silver Jusilo "Lately", Sofia Rubina "Be Good"

Overall a reasonably decent year I'd say. :giggle: We've had better, but certainly far worse too. Could always use more songs that truly stand out, doubt we'll be winning Eurovision with any of these, but I can say I like over half of them well enough, and even the rest are at least tolerable. Probably doesn't hurt we have quite a few electronic & dance songs this year, which I personally like.

I'm guessing the winner will be one of Ollie, 5Miinust or Daniel Levi. Can't rule out Anet Vaikmaa either. And obviously there's a chance that live shows will change things around, favorites might disappoint or someone else might surprise. Biggest question mark is 5Miinust. Will it come off as a fun catchy package that audiences will love, or a messy cacophony of randomness? Will it achieve more mainstream popularity or go the way of something like Parmupillihullus, having it's fair share of fans but being too weird to really contend for victory? Also not sure if it's something the international juries in the final (presuming it gets there) will really get behind. But we'll have to wait and see, live performance will matter a lot in this case.

Of the three most likely winners, I'd personally pick Ollie or 5Miinust. :giggle: Daniel Levi's song is cute and wouldn't be a terrible winner, but IMO a missed opportunity to send something more interesting than another passable ballad. Would be cool to finally send a rock song, or go totally crazy and pick 5Miinust. But I shall wait to see them all live to make up my mind. Will be interesting to see all the electronic songs live too, those can be hard to pull off on stage.

In other news, we get to vote 30 cents cheaper this year! From €1.70 to €1.40! Still a little too expensive IMO, but better than nothing I suppose. Might be able to squeeze in an extra vote or two. :giggle:

I can tell My Friend is shaping up to be a fan favourite, which... ehhh. Maybe it'll be better live, but the vocal processing is genuinely painful for me to listen to. Unwelcome flashbacks to whatever they did to Kaarija's voice back in the lives last year.

I really like Traffic and "Wunderbar", such a fun tune. xdance2

5MIINUST are also interesting, OLLIE isn´t bad either.

I´m gonna save the rest of the songs for shows which I´m planning to watch. :)

I caught the flu (one of the perks of working at a school, I guess) but I tried to listen to a couple of entries and the recap and I have to say that I'm flabbergasted at the "professional juries" for choosing the direct finalists because most of the semi finalist entries are way stronger, superior and more interesting, in my opinion.
That's why I never trust an "expert panel" when it comes to deciding on what songs end up being in a NF.

However, they are still decent, though.

Personally, I think I like 5MIINUST and OLLIE the most. (I didn't like "Venom" last year).

"No Dog On a Leash" could have been incredible but it basically just goes nowhere. I absolutely adore the vibe but the chorus is a mess.

Please Estonia i beg you to choose 5MIINUST and Puuluup. This is a massive banger and a possible televote smash with good staging ! I've already streamed this more than any other NF entry from last Eurovision season and it will be my favourite Estonian entry of all time if chosen.

Daniel Levi is really good. Cant decide between him and Ollie.
Anyway another Qualification should be secured.

When did Cartoon revert back to their original name from the Estonianized "multikas"? Did they ever explain why they used a different name with their initial submission?

Makes a lot of sense though, they should be rather well known under the name Cartoon, because today I found out their collab with Daniel Levi -- On & On -- has over 500 million listens on YouTube and has sold hundreds of thousands of copies in the UK and the US. Never knew it was so big. (I submitted that song to the Forum Song Contest over here back in the day, did not do well there...)

I wouldn't have minded if Still Love was in the Irish selection to be honest. It's quite well done. Looking forward to seeing how Uudo and Sarah have it staged in the final.
Why Irish selection though? She's still not from Ireland. ;)

5Miinust are one of the most popular Estonian pop groups of the past years and Puuluup also have an established following, so them being the early streaming leaders is no surprise.

What I am surprised is Ollie and Yonna being rather close to them in the Youtube views. Like, who even are these people? I really have no idea and could not name any of their previous songs (if they have any).

Yonna has 113 likes and 9 comments, Ollie has 1600 likes and 256 comments despite having the same amount of views. So obvious case of buying views :D

Surprised to see the general disappointment regarding Eesti Laul 2024. I really like more than half of the songs, and love these ones:

Serotoniin
FOMO
Wunderbar
I Don't Know About You

That said, Serotoniin is my favourite, it would be amazing to see Anet win.

Estonia always delivers xmusic

Well Ollie came 2nd in the previous Eesti Laul and was a big fan fave so I think that's logic, I didn't know Yonna before this Eesti Laul
