Would like to see more hype for Anet. I'm worried about her live performance abilities/charisma but the song alone is a banger.

I doubt her 2019 fame is getting her loads of views, so it's a little sus she's so high up there. Maybe she has a few very dedicated fans.. or she splurged a little on some view-bots. What's even the point of buying views, not like they're going to count towards the vote count in January. Well, the rules have said ERR "might use online statistics" as part of the rankings for years now. They've never done that so far, and even if they did, they'd probably use the view counts from Jupiter, not random YT vids. But maybe that's why some artists want to push their views up, just in case? Oh well, doesn't really matter I suppose. Her chances to make the final seem pretty slim anyway IMO.

Wonder how many crazy songs we're going to get this year. Käärijä-inspired OTT entries coming out of the woodworks? I'm sure if 5Miinust won, we'd get people complaining they're copying Käärijä. That always seems to happen to our songs.
It would be cool if they could have the dance from the video as part of the staging, but can't fit any dancers on stage anymore! Unless they plan to dance themselves, but I doubt that would do their vocals any favors. I hope they have something cooler in mind with the staging rather than just the band hanging around on stage, but not sure what they can really do. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yonna competed under her real name Johanna Eendra in 2019 with Miks sa teed nii?

Ah, yes, that sounds familiar. 2019 was the last Eest Laul I followed. But, as already mentioned, her 2024 entry views to comments/likes ratio is completely off compared to other competitors, definitely some botting involved.

Considering the uncountable tragedies that have happened in Estonia during the past decade, the pattern says there's no way that 5miinust are going to win.
you mean especially 2013?
yeah that was a huge mistake but i am optimistic because this song has the flow.
estonian people like this act over the years too - the biggest trap is this weird semi with only 5 finalists.

Personally I like FOMO and the song with the very long name by the band* with the very long name. The latter can be very fun in Malmo.

Songs like FOMO usually don't translate well live, so I'll manage my expectations, but studio version is fire.

I think Ollie is being overrated online with Venom's hype carrying over to this year.

*2 bands with normal sized names. Where did I even get that?

I'm not too worried about the 5Miinust x Puuluup performance. I haven't really seen Puuluup live yet much but they should be more than decent and I personally think 5Miinust generally shine live, even though they're without Pavel/Gameboy Tetris now who probably had the most star power out of them & carried the choruses, they still have the charisma, energy and experience to make it work and plenty of experience performing together with Puuluup as well. In terms of the show, it's probably going to be limited in terms of what the production allows them to do at Eesti Laul, but I have faith that it's going to be controlled and well thought out chaos rather than just chaos. Things are probably gonna come across as rather awkward in Tartu in the semi final as always due to the small venue (but eyy it's a nice ~5-10 min walk away from my place now so I'll probably be attending), but they already performed there in 2020 as an Eesti Laul guest act and that was when I actually started liking the band lol, so I'm more optimistic rather than not.

Serotoniin is really good, a feel good song, it may be my no.1 atm (sorry Ollie...), but I'm little concerned about the live rendition. It will probably be in my top 3 even if it crashes and burns, but my favourites of Eesti Laul NEVER win, so... (Even if Alika last year actually deserved to win, I must say. She slayed live in ESC).

Btw almost everyone seems to like FOMO, and well... I don't find nothing interesting in that song, it's middle of the road. And I actually should like that song, because I love the genre. But something isn't there...

Here is my top 10 at the moment:

1 - Anet Vaikmaa - Serotoniin (Hilary Duff meets Avril Lavigne. As I said, really cool song. I've listened to it quite a few times and it really grew on me a lot. The fact it is in Estonian is a big plus and I just ADORE that chorus! Seems pretty tame but it I find it frigging anthemic. Great song! Has near to no chances of winning, but I'm rooting for Anet and hoping she delivers)
2 - Ollie - My Friend (the song may not be as strong as "Venom" which I adored since day one and has been one of my most listened Eurovision related songs in 2023, but it still is really good and I have no doubt the rendition will be incredible)
3 - 5miinust & Puulup - (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi (Chaotic but really funny and catchy song. At first I was "wtf is this?" but I must admit that after thinking that way, I listened it on loop for other three or four times, so it is a good way to be "wtf")
4 - Traffic - Wunderbar (Another feel good song. In this case I didn't like it that much the first time I listened to it or I didn't pay enough Attention to this song, anyway I started to really like it after two or three listens)
5 - Antsud - Vetevaim (Probably the most underrated song on Eesti Laul: I'm thinking I'm the only one that likes this song. It's very folky and almost theatrical, it reminds me of some Angelo Branduardi works and I actually love him. So, yeah, I actually like it. Is it for Eurovision? Absolutely no. But it's for me)
6 - Inga - No dog on a leash (Interesting song concept, not really my style but it's actually captivating. Looking for the live performance)
7 - Peter Poder - Korra Veel (really good vibe and he seems to have a really good voice. Not bad at all. Could be a grower)
8 - Brother Apollo - Bad boy (Actually it seems the most solid among the 5 selected songs for the final. Lyrics could have been better and sound a little cheap in some parts, but the song has an interesting sound. Decent entry)
9 - Nele-Liis Vaiksoo - Käte ümber jää (Another one I found slightly underrated. The song's scheme is quite classica, but I just love her voice and I think the song may even grow on me, because I find it really intriguing. Again, this one is not for Eurovision, but I kinda like it)
10 - Cecilia - FOMO (As I said, I'm not the biggest fan of it. I like the genre, the song is decent and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to Mälmo, because I can see some potential. But I'm not completely sold. Maybe I will be in few weeks, who knows?)

I guess it would be smart to also buy some comments & likes if you're going to buy views, to make things less obvious. But then again stock bot-comments are pretty obvious themselves. Rest of the list makes sense & I could see the top 5-6 (barring Yonna) also being the top 5-6 in the EL final. :giggle: Tho' YT views don't often correlate exactly to Eesti Laul results so.. surprises can certainly happen.

My early guess for Semi qualifiers would be Ollie, Anet Vaikmaa, 5Miinust (unless their performance really flops).. but after that it gets a little more complicated. At least one of the dance songs might make it and Traffic seems the most likely candidate there. But who will the fifth one be? If there's room for two dance songs, and she manages to pull it off live, then maybe Cecilia? Or perhaps the juries will manage to push in someone like Ewert or Ingmar. If televoters can only save 1 song in round 2, there's potential for some flops there, if say 5Miinust and Anet Vaikmaa both fail to qualify from round 1. I guess I'll make my early predictions as: Ollie, Anet Vaikmaa, 5Miinust, Traffic and surprise qualifier Ingmar. But I'll be surprised if I actually get it right.

Tried to make my own ranking of all 20 entries. This is how it looks at the moment. To be honest, everything from 7th to 20th is a wash and I don't care about any of those. Quite content with my top 6.
  1. 5MIINUST x Puuluup
  2. Daniel Levi
  3. Traffic
  4. Anet Vaikmaa
  5. Antsud
  6. Cartoon, Ewert Sundja
  7. Ewert and the Two Dragons
  8. Sofia Rubina
  9. YONNA
  10. Nele-Liis Vaiksoo
  11. Laura
  12. Uudo Sepp, Sarah Murray
  13. INGA
  14. Brother Apollo
  15. Carlos Ukareda
  16. Peter Põder
  17. Silver Jusilo
  18. OLLIE
  19. Cecilia
  20. Ingmar
Bolded the automatic finalists. Still confused about those. Daniel Levi is the only one I like.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love the song but I'd be extremely shocked if Estonia sent FOMO to Eurovision.

I think it's 5Miinust & Puulupp vs. Ollie.

Not so sure, tbh. I like both, but 5miinust performance could go either way and Ollie is a great performer but has a way weaker song than Venom (and yes, as I say, I still like "My Friend") and that can underwhelm a lot of people. This could be a two horse race but could be way more open than it seems.

I definitely think the live performances will change things around.

At the moment a three-horse race seems most likely to me, between Ollie, Daniel Levi & 5Miinust. With 5Miiinust being the biggest wild-card of the three.. could top the televote or even flop in the semis. It'll certainly be the hardest one to stage right! Seems like the kind of song that would benefit a lot from cool impressive staging, but trying to pull off anything cool on a (probably) pretty small stage & limited to only the band members could be difficult. And if they don't manage, it has the potential to come off pretty cheap and amateurish, even if their vocals aren't terrible. But I suppose with enough creativity anything is possible, we shall have to see. :giggle:

From what limited local feedback we have so far, I haven't seen too much complaining that Ollie's song is worse than last year, so I expect he'll do pretty well this year too. :giggle: At least I don't see him out of the final top 3, as long as his performance isn't worse than last year. Daniel Levi also seems like a safe bet for top 3, if he doesn't fumble the vocals. If 5Miinust flops it up, or juries sink them in the final, they could be replaced by someone like Anet or Traffic. Or perhaps we'll get someone else as a dark horse, we've had a few of those over the years. :giggle: But I'm not sure I see any potential dark horses beating Ollie/Daniel Levi. I guess we'll have a better idea after the semi!
