We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

We'll be the last ones breathing here

Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

We're taught that we were born to lose
But why why why
Don't waste your breath, it's time to choose
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

No matter what they try, tearing up our lives
I know we will always rise

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

The future still remains our own

I hope

I agree with you, HayashiM xclap "What To Make Of This" is a wonderful song: soft, foggy, magical and enveloping. Don't forget to mention the chilling guitar riff. Second position in my ranking.

Who writes that this edition of the Eesti Laul is mediocre… think more with instinct. I see a very hard-fought edition and I foresee that, if Estonia makes its good choice, it can win or reach high positions. For the moment, I would like to say that Ott Lepland, Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany, Jaagup Tuisk and Boamadu could make a great ESC route. One step below Evelin Samuel, Merlin Malik and Stig Rästa. Half an hour was enough and Merlin Malik lost 4 positions and Stig Rästa 1 position! I put Stig in seventh position because he vaguely reminds me of last year's Uku Suviste sound.
Stig's song reminds me Jack & Joe entry for UK except less jolly and somehow more vanilla.

My top 5 (Yes, now I have listened to all 20 Eesti Laul semifinalists!). I guess I was bored out of my mind, lol. There is no one track that I find great at this EE, but there is a lot of music that I find likable and there is sone variety too - from bubblegum pop, EDM, indie to rock, I'd say it's a better edition than last year.

1. Meeletu
2. Kui Vaid
3. Golden Shores
4. Aovalguses
5. Remedy

I have a soft spot for Hea päev but I agree it is not fantastic. I like the direction and the sonic landscape of it though + beautiful Estonian language!

Sahlene's song is unbearable even in a short snippet. That female empowerment content featuring the most basic English vocabulary coupled with MOR music is something I hate!

Can we acknowledge that Ott Lepland is aging like a fine wine?
Instead, do you want to know where Ott is really great? On the official video of the song "Aovalguses", to every compliment of the fans, he leaves a reaction (it's not a usual thing - Elina doesn't, for example). I like his humanity, his wanting to be connected to his audience. I am one of those who think that TRUE beauty is the extension of a beautiful soul. If Ott is a good wine, let's all get drunk! xcheers

I couldn't name all the singers. There are messages that also have implicit meanings. If we had to express all the nuances of our thoughts, I believe that thousands of books would not be enough. Furthermore, I put Ott and Elina in relationship for a particular reason: for me they are the best two and will compete for Eesti Laul 2022. When two singers are on the same level, we must evaluate even the smallest aspects, those that make it complete. Ott's humanity and simplicity struck me so much that I hope Italy won't bring a ballad because I would suffer a lot from the competition.

jfc, what humanity? he's a big celebrity in Estonia and has a social media manager, who does that for him. I know that for a fact.

Oh wow... Ott's song is incredible. Gave goosebumps and beautiful memories of old Eesti Laul.
It has that Eurovision flavor from last 00' ballads, but at the same time, reminds me of the old national finals from Estonia in that Nokia arena (or whatever). I have a crush on Estonia. It gives me some nostalgic vibes.

Elina is so nice! I have met her in Lisbon right after the GF. She was coming inside the hotel and literally stopped to take a picture with us. Really beautiful (and tall) woman.

IMHO it is more average than incredible but Ott's beautiful voice lifts it up. I wish the horns were more accentuated. I like how they sound here but I wish they were more in the forefront.

At least Ott has a social media that takes care of this. I haven't seen this in other singers so far. Humanity? Cunning? It doesn't take much to win the hearts of a fan.
lol you do realise that elina is very busy and she doesn't have the time to reply to every single comment all the time

Nobody expects an artist, after many commitments, every day to comment on the reactions of his fans. However, as each of us takes the time to reconcile our work commitments and comment here on the forum, so can Elina once in a while.

I also want to make you two other considerations. We are talking about an artist who, however hard his work may be, is always less tiring than being a carpenter. Is it really impossible to find time? Speaking of the fans instead, unlike what we tend to believe, they are customers. The more you make a fan feel considered and loved, the more loyal they will be. Trust me, it takes little, even a poor word or a trivial response to a letter.

Then, I don't understand this path that you want me to take. It seems as if I hate Elina and don't want to see her win (go see my ranking and you will see that I rate Ott and Elina tied). I just said that Ott compared to Elina and the other singers reacted to the comments of his fans. This was very nice behavior, in my opinion. Also I said that, it's always my personal opinion, when you can't choose a winner because both singers are very good even the little things make a difference.

Do not cling to a mountain with nonexistent grips or you will risk falling into the void

I think you focus too much on comparing various artists with each other. I find it pointless. And him commenting really does not make him better than Elina for me.
