We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

We'll be the last ones breathing here

Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

We're taught that we were born to lose
But why why why
Don't waste your breath, it's time to choose
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

No matter what they try, tearing up our lives
I know we will always rise

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

The future still remains our own

I hope

After Boamadu, Stig Rästa, Jaagup Tuisk, Evelin Sumuel, Ott Lepland, Maian, Helen, Ariadne and Elysa, I listened to "Champion" by Anna Sahlene. I'm sorry, I don't agree with the enthusiasm of some Eurofans. The song is well constructed, the singer has a great voice but fails in her main intent: to involve. The music is epic, poignant, bordering on being a true hymn, yet it is a “controlled hurricane” that tends to vanish easily from the mind and heart of the listener. I don't see that genuineness that is capable of creating an empathic bridge (only Ott has succeeded so far even in its "basicity".) A wrong choice for the ESC. Returning to the Sahlene, his voice is very ESC. I recognize this.

If I had to draw up my final chart, after 10 songs, it would be:

1) Ott Lepland
2) Jaagup Tuisk
3) Boamadu
4) Evelin Samuel
5) Maian
6) Stig Rästa
7) Anna Sahlene
8) Elysa
9) Helen
10) Ariadne

Note: my ranking is a mix of my tastes and what I believe would be good for ESC 2022.

Note Extra: with regard to "Champion", someone explain to me why for the epic plays you always have to add a beat of the drums and the snap of fingers? xthink

I missed most of the songs of the first three quarter finals, but my most favorite songs would be:

Dramanda - "Tule minu sisse"
Goodreason - "Three days ago"
Ott Lepland–Aovalguses
Ariadne - "Shouldn't be friends"
Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany–What To Make Of This
Stefan–Hope
Elina Nechayeva–Remedy
Jaagup Tuisk-Kui vaid
Alabama Watchdog–Move On
Boamadu-Mitte Kaukas

As for the qualifiers, my top 5:

Ott Lepland–Aovalguses
Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany–What To Make Of This
STEFAN–Hope
Elina Nechayeva–Remedy
Jaagup Tuisk-Kui vaid

Merlin Malik - Little Girl:

I was very curious to listen this song because I have seen rave reviews. I will schematically illustrate the salient points of my judgment:

1) "Little Girl" has a style strongly reminiscent of the works of Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff or Miley Cirus. It's also one of those songs we often hear in Disney teen romance movies or movies starring actors like Patrick Dempsey or J.Lo xblushxrunhug

2) Merlin has the body and attitude of a Berkeley student. Probably in the US She could be the best cheerleader xcheer and the girlfriend to the quarterback xbeach This helps the Estonian singer to get into sounds that we have just started to love thanks to those stereotypes.

3) Merlin sings her song in English and she sounds pretty good to me too. An important point to point out the access to the ESC.

4) The sound is simple and has calibrated nuances. I like it.

5) Merlin's voice is pleasant and inspires sweetness and lightness.

Leaving aside that "Little Girl" would be a perfect song to listen to while we put on our sunglasses and drive our car through the streets of California towards the beach where friends await us with beer and surfboards, leaving aside these stereotypes that the song awakens in the soul xheat, I think it is a song that "has a soul of its own", a great song xyes At the moment, second place in my ranking but ... Ott is still unbeatable!

If I can't have Elina, I will still be rooting for, in no order:
Evelin Samuel - Waterfall
Púr Múdd, Shira - Golden Shores
Ott Lepland - Aovalguses
Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany - What To Make Of This (I am so glad this got saved, the singer's timbre and the calm dark development are fantastic ;) )

Ott and Minimal Wind are a mood. Not suited for people in constant self imposed hurry. Relax and switch that brain off for a minute, it will thank you in a couple years time. Make room for a different kind of feelings.

I also enjoyed:
Black Velvet - Sandra
STEFAN - Hope
Stig Rästa - Interstellar
Merilin Mälk – Little Girl
Shira - Under Water

I agree with you, HayashiM xclap "What To Make Of This" is a wonderful song: soft, foggy, magical and enveloping. Don't forget to mention the chilling guitar riff. Second position in my ranking.

Who writes that this edition of the Eesti Laul is mediocre… think more with instinct. I see a very hard-fought edition and I foresee that, if Estonia makes its good choice, it can win or reach high positions. For the moment, I would like to say that Ott Lepland, Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany, Jaagup Tuisk and Boamadu could make a great ESC route. One step below Evelin Samuel, Merlin Malik and Stig Rästa. Half an hour was enough and Merlin Malik lost 4 positions and Stig Rästa 1 position! I put Stig in seventh position because he vaguely reminds me of last year's Uku Suviste sound.

The Estonian audience really will burn you at the stake if you don't enunciate well when singing  I know Merilin Mälk gets a lot of flak as people often say they are annoyed by how the words aren't clear when she sings and they can't tell what she's saying.
But her entry has become my favourite honestly. It has a Really good melody.

Some of the songs are quite nice, but nothing that stands out in my eyes., no top 10 material at least.

I like Merlin Malik and he has a good melody. I had put "Little Girl" in second position. However, after a short time, I noticed that the song did not deserve to be above those of Minimal Wind & E. Tiffany, Tuisk, Boamadu and Evelin. I fear that "Little Girl", if she goes to the ESC, will arouse the usual excitement in Eurofans but at the end of the games will suffer the same fate as Senhit's "Adrenalina" (according to the words of admiration and torn clothes, Senhit had to win easily) . This year Estonia, unlike those who say they don't see Estonian songs in the "ESC Top 10" (I wonder how you can say this without knowing all the songs), you can reach good rankings and even win. You have to choose your representative well.

I think I am not willing to sacrifice my time for listening to EE songs maybe save for those in Estonian as I love Estonian. Probably mostly a lot of mediocre, poppy tracks that all blend together into one if previous years are anything to go by.
