This picture from Marta´s Facebook is less than a month old. They can hardly pretend that they don´t know each other. :? Considering the fact that their duet is quite known (26 millions of views on Youtube), it´s only a matter of time when some journalist points his finger on this unfortunate situation and I am really worried what will come of it.

Ritararita What is the issue between those two? The fact they know each other?

If the juries are made up of so-called industry professionals, it's hardly surprising that there may be some that have worked with contestants. I don't think it is anything that should be worried about and certainly doubt that it would create large amounts of sway (no more so than the usual public voting sways that we see year after year).

Yes, but I think there's some provision that they have to be embargoed for a certain period of time; Kirkorov had to step down as head of the Russian jury in 2009 after a similar photograph emerged of him with Sakis Rouvas.

When I listen to it, it seems nice, but right afterwards, I have completely forgotten the melody or the words.... I don't see this qualify, though I would really wish for the czech republic to make it to the final once.

I hope so, but... Well, since we are generally seen as a borderline (non)qualifier, I think it really is possible that our fate in the contest could depend on a few points more or less. And if we would qualify "only because of Johannes Strate", I personally will see it as a bigger stigma than another non-qualification. But that´s just me, everyone else (maybe with exception of lavieenrose) seem to be completely happy with that. OK then. The other thing is that it was Germany who caused this unfortunate rule-breaking situation, but I bet it will be the Czech Republic who will be blamed.

Some news: The Makemakes are in Prague and they had a press conference with Marta and Václav. Nobody cares, as usual, so there is not any article about it yet. The only two informations (from various social sites) are that Václav did some more rock-ish arrangement of the song, but it was rejected by Ondřej Soukup, who said it was "overcomposed". The other information is that Karel Gott was there, probably supporting Marta and Václav and helping to build a bridge between us and Austria, since he was representative of Austria in the 1960s.

The fact that Johannes Strate is the head of German jury and Marta Jandová is one of the contestants he will be ranking.

These things should be avoided, but I guess it's not so easy in every single instance.
Portugal last year had a Dutch juror, established for a long time in this country that's right, but still. Guess who he ranked first? Surprise surprise!
He also ranked Conchita near last unlike the other members of the jury. This should have been easier to avoid than casual friends and acquaintances, but it wasn't and I don't remember hearing of any complaints...

One juror doesn't make that much difference after all, I guess xshrug

I'm with you on this though, not with lavieenrose ;)

That's what I think too. Ideally this kind of situation should be avoided of course, but it's only one member of the jury we talk about. In the end, if Czech Republic is not ranked high by the other members of the German jury, his potential biased vote will have very little impact on the outcome.

As you said Ritararita Marta wasn't chosen because one knew one of her colleagues would be a juror in another country. :D Germany just happened to appoint him, and maybe he'll just do a professional ranking afterall. :p

Well, I can´t see anything about Johannes Strate there. :-)

I merely meant that I am also a big supporter of the Czech Republic's entry this year and would be mightily annoyed if people put its well-deserved success down to a biased judge when it would be in fact due to their excellent entry.

It looks like Czech TV is no longer hiding the fact that they are back in Eurovision. Milan Fridrich, the ČT´s program schedule manager, was quoted saying on the press conference that decision not to participate in ESC was made by previous management and unlike them, the current one see Eurovision as one of the most important projects among their aspirations to make more international co-productions. On a direct question if ČT plans to participate next year, he said that he is not competent to say yes or no, but he personally thinks this is not last year of our participation. Also, this short info was aired in ČT´s prime time news, where Eurovision is said to be "the most watched non-sport TV program in the world" and Karel Gott says he likes the song and singers, which is Czech equivalent of blessing from the Pope. :)

Interview and performance from tuesday´s Building Bridges in Prague:

This is not my type of song, but there's no doubt their voices are awfully interesting. His is the most immediately striking of course, but hers is very good as well. Judging by this very informal performance I don't think they can have any problem to impress in Vienna so I'm thinking they may be in with a chance for the final.

Well, as I mentioned few posts above, I think they already started. Also, Václav and Marta were (again) in "Sama doma" (a silly daily show for housewives, for foreigners) yesterday. Among other things, they said there that now they will have some days off before road to Vienna (Monday) and they are planning to spend the time with their families on Václav´s summer cottage, possibly singing with his village band called "Temné kyselé zelí" ("Dark Sour Cabbage"). So, now I am really curious what "big promo" ČT prepares - without them. :) Maybe they were just joking, one never knows with these two.

Maybe they're planning to do a promo tour in front of their relatives  sounds ambitious
