ESCKAZ released this video of Marta and Václav rehearsing for the Czech music awards show from about two weeks ago. It really shows that they had originally different plans than "let´s just stand on the spot", as the director asked them. So, maybe there are some clues about their Vienna staging...?

Marta chucking off the heels xheat

I would like to know if this dramatic moment was meant as a part of their staging or if it was just spontaneous. Marta was actually a host of the Angel awards show few years ago, wearing high heals, and she took her shoes off during the show because wearing them was too painful. So, I think it could have been meant as a little joke-reference to that situation.

They did really good promo job in London. Especially Marta. Another interview, this one for escXtra

They're really nice and that interview is hilarious. Marta did a great job. Just before watching this, I saw the interview with Guy. He really is a loud singer.
I think I should vote for them in addition to voting for Slovenia. It would be nice, if they made it to the grand final.

Voting for two neighbors at the same time... xheat xheat xheat

Deal. In that case, I am willing to vote for Austria (in addition to Slovenia, Belgium and my dear underappreciated UK, indeed) in final, since I have a soft spot for these long-haired hipster guys. xup They actually will be in Prague next tuesday and I expect that some bridge will be probably built between them and Czech hopefuls on this occasion.

As I may have said, this strikes me as a Kaliopi-style entrant, who's pronounced dead in the water before the rehearsals and slowly rises in the ranks, first with "they'll struggle but have a chance," then "they're on the border," then getting in, then doing not badly in the finals.

Well they certainly did something similar for me, so let's hope so! :)

It was an instant hit for me - the melodies really hooked me in immediately and there's just something about Václav's vocals that I really love. So hopefully enough people find it instantly appealing in the semis to get it through the final so that the second listening can hook in even more people! xlove

They actually deserve the QUALIFICATION!!! It would be a crime if they remain in the semifinal

They deserve a high ranking, not just qualification!

EscXtra: The London Eurovision Party 2015 - a mini-Eurovision experience:

"Although the audience was receptive to all the artists, the first act to really get an enthusiastic response was Marta and Václav from the Czech Republic, who really gave it some welly when performing a note-perfect rendition of their entry, ‘Hope Never Dies’ and really won the audience round with their infectious personalities."

"Latvia and the Czech Republic are clear examples of songs that work better live than recorded, so don’t discount either of them from qualifying based on the compilation. "

Pffft, even more reason to get them up there this year! Chances like these do not come around often!

I've been thinking about the Kaliopi comparison I made last night, and I actually see a whole bunch of compelling stories from Eurovisions past in this entry. You could think of it as Sergej Ćetković, who brought a beleaguered country into the final with some well-executed simplicity. Or Evelina Sašenko, who was written off as "boring" before the contest but brought something powerful to the live performance and weaseled her way into the final. Or Paula & Ovi (in 2010), who used pitch-perfect live vocals, clever staging, and a fantastic song to do much, much better than anyone thought they would. The underdog narrative the Czech Republic is (perhaps inadvertently) crafting is adding to my already too great love for the song. I really hope you can get into the final and will be "Crisalide"-not-qualifying levels of sad if you don't.

From watching the interviews, Marta and Václav are so likeable. I'm not crazy about the song but I really want them to do well in the competition and also it would be epic if Czech Republic get in the final. So yeah I'll be giving Czech Republic some votes in the second semi.
