It´s nice to see all the positive comments after so many arrogant and nasty things being said (not here, but in some comments on YouTube, various social sites and especially on that damned Wiwibloggs). I seriously hope that Marta and Václav don´t read users´ comments on wiwibloggs, because some people simply can´t see where is that fine line between song criticism and personal insult.
After seeing the live performance yesterday, I was too emotional and touched and relieved that after all my attempts to promote them whenever possible, our "hopefuls" didn´t let me down by their performance, to comment it with a cool head. Because at this point, I am too emotionally attached to even try to be objective. However, here are my observations:
1) Their vocals in live performance were of almost exactly the same quality as in studio version, with minimal changes and marginal little mistakes, showing only that it was live and they are people and not robots.
2) The instrumentation was different, calmer (or was it only change of the ratio between it and vocals?) and it was definitely change for better. Only the part after keychange could be more "bombastic" from the musicians, but that could be because of technical difficulties in sound department, mentioned by host during the show.
3) What cannot be seen on the video, but was definitely apparent during the show, was that audience was not good. This is notorious problem of Czech awards shows, because there are always various local celebrities - some of them hating each other - thrown in the same auditorium, some of them doubting if the show is not "too mainstream" for them, so they usually keep up facial expression of grumpy cat for the most of the time. Leoš Mareš, host of the evening, even commented it: "I must say that you are the second best audience I ever had. If you are curious which was the better one, I must say that any else than you."
4) As I had feared, Marta did not learn from previous experiences and wore that damned, cursed, bloody high heels. I noticed many times before that whenever she has them on (usually in awards shows like this), she looks very nervous, which is not good for her performance. The combination of high heels, big boobs and the law of gravity is very dangerous and in her case also leads to some painful facial expressions and uncomfortably looking wobbling "choreography".
5) Václav reduced the number of hourse sounds. Good.
6) Their effort to keep eye contact was apparent, but sometimes maybe little forced.
