Let's go Valanto Trifonos!! Despina Olympiou and Vera Boufi would be nice too, but I think the best would be Valanto with a ballad written by Mihalis Hatzigiannis.

Well if we use twitter for hints, Vera Boufi tweeted a support link today about the Oikotimes Cyprus 2013 poll. (This poll: http://www.facebook.com/questions/10151390032101343/ By the way, Valanto was in the lead before Vera posted about it. )

Valanto Trifonos was asked over the weekend about Eurovision and gave a curious response:

Giorgos Doukas posted today that he has a surprise.....

No hints on Despina Olympiou's twitter, and I can't find a twitter for Fillipos Konstantinos.

Although nothing is official yet as I understood, I'm satisfied with this line-up, first time I see national final with 5 well known names. I love Valando & Despina, like Vera, dislike Doukas, and I have no idea what Filippos Konstantinos can do solo, but I will wait for the songs!

I'm quite sure the battle will be between Valando & Despina.

The thing is that Despina Olympiou is not working with the composer of her most hits anymore (Michalis Hatzigiannis), while Valando now works with him. Her post-Hatzigiannis songs were pure disappointments for me. She released these 2 songs after she stopped working with him, and both are compositions of Giannis Christodoulopoulos (composer of Greece 2011 entry):

Despina Olympiou - Na ise kala
Despina Olympiou feat. Stereo Mike - De S' Afino Ap' Ta Matia Mou

So she probably will come up with a song composed by Giannis Christodoulopoulos. I like him as a composer, although I don't like any of these 2 songs he composed for Despina Olympiou (the one with Stereo Mike is not bad at all, just not as good as previous songs of her). I hope it will be something like this song he composed for Peggy Zina: Peggy Zina - Rotisa

As for Vera Boufi, I think she is not a good performer. Her live vocals are good, but she cannot support a dance song IMO. I prefer her to come up with a powerful ballad like this one: Vera Boufi - Domatio 22

It was mentioned on ESC Nation and escforum. ESC Nation is now saying that the announcement is postponed.

Showtime-cy blogspot reported earlier today that CYBC officials were in meetings all day about various issues, and that they are delaying the Eurovision decision/announcement because they are waiting on some financial data and to close the deal between the broadcaster and the sponsor for this year. So I guess we can only hope tomorrow that they will finalize and announce it.

Meanwhile on the Twitter front, Vera Boufi and Valanto Trifonos (just some retweets) haven't really tweeted today, Despina Olympiou hasn't since Sunday, and Giorgos Doukas deactivated his account or something. So its "radio silence" on that front.

I really hope it is true! Showtime-cy blog seems to be reliable from what I have followed. Hopefully the official announcement comes soon!

If it really is Valanto, it is the right choice IMO. She has proven she can sing live, so that will not be a problem at all.

But it is also a bit ironic in a sense. She entered the 2006 Cypriot NF (Before she started professionally singing, and not very seriously at the time) and she actually won the most votes. Annet Artani ended up going instead though because CYBC didn't pick the winner based on number of votes, but instead on a different voting combination.
