Re: CYPRUS 2013

Rumoured representative for Cyprus, Giorgos Papadopoulos has apparently turned them down. He has reportedly said that he was asked but he cannot give up so much of his diary time for Eurovision. Eurovision Ireland has reported that Cyprus will hold an open invitation to all singers and composers.

Re: CYPRUS 2013

Situation in Cyprus is still crucial. The national broadcaster is still searching for sponsors to cover to Eurovision 2013 project. After the denial of George Papadopoulos to enter as representative, CyBC approached Valanto Tryfonos, George Doukas and Philipos Konstantinos also awaiting a big sponsor to cover the costs as Showtime-Cy reported today. Everything is on the edge once again.

Valanto Trifonos could be good. She is signed to Mihalis Hatzigianni's M2 label on Universal Music Greece and he wrote her latest single:

Re: CYPRUS 2013

I was informed that there's another singer that is rumored to be in discussions with CyBC about ESC. Kypros Harilaou.

I must say that I really dislike all the songs of him I've heard so far and also his voice is very annoying, but I wouldn't mind him with a 100% folk song (zeibekiko, hasapiko, etc) or even a song in Cypriot with traditional elements, but I'm sure they will choose a bad folk song (aka bouzoukleri).

A live performance of an old Greek folk song by him:

Please, let it be just rumors! SOOC

Oikotimes posted this yesterday on facebook:

"BREAKING NEWS COMING UP
CYPRUS DECIDED! WE HAVE THE NAME!"

If it is one of the names we have heard so far, I hope it is Valanto!

Well it looks like Giorgos Doukas is the likely choice. :|

He just posted this on Twitter earlier today: Twitter / giorgosdoukas:

"Ευελπιστω Παρασκευη μεσημερι να μπορω επισημα να το ανακοινωσω ! Ευχαριστω για τα μηνυματα! Τελικα και τα κακα σχολια κανουν καλο!!!!!"

Translation: "Hopefully Friday mid-day I can officially announce it! Thank you for the messages! Ultimately even the bad comments do good!"

Re: CYPRUS 2013

^ His song is this?

The absolute xeftila!

Whatever that means ;)

Instead of "tragoudi" (which is the most common Greek word for "song") I ironically used the word "asma" (it means "song" too but more like in official language, or even in ancient language), and xeftila means something like "ridicule"! This sums up what I just said!

I even prefer Mylordou over him! I think I have deja-vu with the Cypriot entry of 2005!
