It's actually the opposite for me and now that I'm a bit more used to the instrument used and my ears are a bit more desensitised to it, I'm finding myself bopping along more than sneering in perplexed revolt.

I listened to Cleopatra and Mata Hari back to back and can make two points:

1) Cleopatra seems to be the better produced, better remixed song. Mata Hari seems like just vocals slapped onto some instrumental with less care to fix some rough edges.

2) Mata Hari has the better and more effective drop imo

I like Mata Hari a lot better than Cleopatra, and I really liked Cleopatra as well

Azerbaijan's yet to send a song that I don't like. I like all their entries but 2008

I do miss the rolled 'r' that Cleopatra has that Mata Hari doesn't... and it isn't like Mata Hari shies away from being really, really close to Cleopatra.

When she sung Cleopatra (the name) in Cleopatra (the song) it had a more musical quality to me. When she sings Mata Hari (the name) in Mata Hari (the song) I find it too spoken word for it to not get too repetitive as the song goes on.

I think Azerbaijan will ace televoting and juries with 'Mata Hari'. It's not exactly the most produced track of the bunch, but it's clean enough for the juries and you'll get the 'Mamamamatahari' and 'mamamama' part instantly. Although, with the music video looking like, that, are they saving the budget for the staging? If so, they'll succeed. They WILL succeed...

...unless Efendi's weak skill on dancing shows on the stage. I am terrified of this moment so whoever is staging Azerbaijan, please mask this out smartly.

This has grown on me immensely and finds a spot in my top 10.
Those last 30 seconds or so in particular sound so immense and I just love the way it builds like that.
It is a huge improvement on Cleopatra which I didn’t like at all....the way she constantly rolled her “r” on the title word just set my teeth on edge.

Azerbaijan would be probably one of the countries who benefit pre-recorded vocals the most. Last year we were wondering how they will deal with this fancy voice on strange language live, they did it again in Mata Hari but this year i guess it might be pre-recorded

From all the pre-recorded vocals imho this one stands out because it can be a bit creepy/weird to many people who don't see it coming. If they use it right, Efendi will easily slay her way into TOP5.
