Actually my point wasn't to "judge" you or anything, so I'm sorry if I cam across that way ;) I'm just very sensitive to everything PC at the moment

Why can't we have Swedish folk music? I mean we had it in Azerbaijan for instance. We could have a fusion between modern music and folk and some dance theme (you'd be surprised of how many there actually are).

And for the other interval act we could have a mash-up of famous Swedish music for instance.

Ok, we're cool! :)

Sure, swedish folk music would be awesome - but what is swedish folk music?? You're referring to Bellman and such, right? Maybe I have to brush up on my history but I have rarely, if ever, heard music I'd call folk music here in this country - I can barely name anyone who was famous in that field. It's almost like we don't have such a thing as folk music in Sweden, if you get what I'm saying. And a fusion between that and modern music, hypothetically, sounds great too because sweden writes the best modern music in the world, in Europe anyway; but most of that modern music is in english and fairly undistinguishable from anything coming from the british or american market. It'll probably be better in my opinion though, haha, but it won't be "typically swedish" anyway. But fair enough, Veronica Maggio writes music in swedish so I guess she's exception. And Oscar Linnros... Daniel Adams-Ray... Jonathan Johansson.. Håkan Hellström (I hate his guts though).. Point is, we could do something like you've suggested and it might be great, but it will probably not be very swedish anyway.

EDIT: suddenly I remembered Monica Zetterlund! Man that woman was talented.. she participated in ESC too, didn't she? Also, found a vid on youtube of Robyn performing a swedish folk song.. Hmmmm!

EDIT 2: Search and you shall find :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHaByxIuB7o&feature=related

Seriously, you're reply is making me absolutely mad. You're a perfect example of exactly what the problem is with music in this country :?

So SVT... will you surprise us or will it be some Political Correct hot mess with boring hosts and boring stage?? I HOPE to be happily surprised, but knowing SVT... my hopes starts on almost zero.

I assume you're fully aware that the Political Correct concept is both ambiguous and controversial. We can all Google and read wikis about it, so we can skip the definition part. The interesting part is why you are using an anti-intellectual extreme right political concept in the header post about new ideas for Melodifestivalen and the Swedish Eurovision 2013. You mention some ideas of yours and ask for feedback and additional ideas. Then you end the post with this opportunistic statement - like a teaser or a troll post. I'm confused. :(

I usually find your posts interesting and they show great musical insight. I've noticed that your political views are pretty extreme but that you try to express them solely in the political threads. Only now and then they come out in normal posting (as they do for most people). Hat off for that.

Eurovision 2013 will be in the Friends Arena, or does Sweden have any larger venues that could host it? Melodifestivalen final will be in the Friends Arena and there is no way SVT would organise Eurovision in a smaller venue, that would be nonsense.

For the hosts, I think Måns Zelmerlöf, Gina Dirawi and Sarah Dawn Finer would be good and quite likely. I think it could be Richard Olsson also... I hope not.

The location will definitely be Friends Arena. I'm 99% sure about that. IF not it'll be Scandinavium in Göteborg.

Yes, you need a history lesson in Swedish music because none of what you mentioned are Swedish folk music  They're "Swedish", but not folk.

I was thinking bring on some youth Swedish folk dance teams and fusion the music with for instance modern electro or heavy beats.

Another example of Swedish folk music (but in another tempo) would be this (The Swedish national anthem played in traditional style):

Btw, for the first time in years, we have also MANY artists who sings contemporary music in Swedish, much more than ever. You mentioned some of them but there are many on the radio now.

 ... I gave him/her examples. But yeah, there is a problem if one think that Bellman is Swedish folk music and that there doesn't even exist Swedish folk music... I mean how couldn't it exist in one of the oldest nation-states in whole Europe, perhaps even the world?

I don't blame Ivannia though, I blame the Swedish schools and media for making our youth like this. It's in the plan to erase our history and culture so they can later argue that "see, we don't have any so now we have to bring everything from abroad". I think Swedish youth have one of the worst knowledge of their own country's history than any other youth in the world, and it's really sad.

There's nothing extreme in my political views what-so-ever. If you find theme extreme, I feel sorry for you. I don't have anything other to add to that really.

Glad you TEND to like my posts though ;) I'd wish you would try to understand we're I'm coming from though with this without calling me "extreme right", if anything that sounds anti-intellectual and like a copy-paste from some Swedish tabloid (which are the very opposite of intellectual).

Now, I'm not going to call you anti-intellectual, because I don't know you, so I hope you won't do that in the future in here aswell (referring to me) because you don't know me either.

And yes, I want us to make a great Eurovision for Europe, so therefor I really oppose the idea of bringing some sort of (hidden) political message to Europe (which frankly is against SVT:s own policies anyways). Not all Swedes feel represented by the world-view of the some 80% left/green journalists who work at SVT (yes they are that overrepresented there according to fresh statistics), and they should represent all Sweden, not a political doctrine which most Swedes feel uncomfortable with anyways. That is my main concern, I would like them for once to skip politics, and just make a great show that will represent Sweden in the best, respectable and worthy way in this context.

Is it just me who think Måns is overrated and that Gina is annoying as hell (and not in a good way). Did you see the "inför Eurovision" programs? I think Gina's true colors shine through there, the girl is just stupid... and I don't even want to start on her anti-semitic statements she did in the past.
