The hate that Mae is getting is astounding.

Sorry but its like little children acting when they dont get their own way.

Yes I get we are upset, but for godness sake we havent even heard the song yet.

I just want to be clear if you are calling me out as one of these people, Mae Muller is a terrible choice for the UK. And this is coming from someone that knew Sam Ryder would be good for the UK last year, despite a lot of people's uncertainties, mostly because I knew how talented Sam Ryder is. This Mae person better be a good performer because I think that's the only possible thing that can redeem her chances based on what I've seen on her limited musical talent.

For me it's not a 'it needs to be Rina!' but rather we need to show that 2022 wasn't a one off fluke and a fun inoffensive girly bop is not going to achieve that.

Mae Muller is not Sam Ryder, I get that and people are upset.

What I am calling out is the abuse she is getting, especially on social media.

I think it is worth remembering that there were many people calling Ryder's song uncompetative and he ended up being our most successful act in decades. I am sure that whoever it is TaP and the BBC have plans in place to make the most of them, their talents, and their reach. Equalling or bettering last year's result was going to be a tall order regardless of whoever was going to be picked. So we'll see how things go tomorrow when it will be revealed it is actually James Newman for a third time and we were all fooled!

Yes, as disappointed as I am with the snippet of the song, there's very much a difference between venting your frustration about the song on these forums, and actively messaging the artist with hate.

My disappointment lies with the selection team really, and the poor PR job they've done.

I'm so sorry for your guys. Mea Muller? That song reminds me on the polish song. I hope she wear not the red dress in the twitter video. Oh my. 😐

Rip Rina, Elli, Mimi and Birdy. They where so much better choice.

Is this really happening again now? You know, I love Eurovision, I love the National Final season, but can we all just the heck calm down for a second? If it wasnt for some rumours and PR Rina has been doing and probably obsess fans and people for the fact she could be the representitive, Mae would not get as much hate as she does now.

Why is all the fandom starting to hate on one artist that just got the offer to live the dream of her life? Without all the buzz and the hype, that song (from the snippet) would be a total people pleaser, even a fan fave. We dont have many female bops this year, so I look forward to it. No matter what.

And yes, I got super excited about Rina too. But I am open for ANY artist and give them a chance to shine. If the fandom starts shading now, just because some expectations havent been met, I wonder how come, people start being rude that easily nowadays? Is it the anonymous internet? Nobody deserves hatred and nobody should even get picked at just before the reveal! Give your objective comments, dislike the song, dislike the artist for or her voice, but dont hate, dont make her feel bad or behave like children!? Sorry for my anger, but I had to unleash it for a second. IOTAP

This girl deserves a chance and I hope she gets it from as many people as possible. No matter if we end up loving that song or not.

Oh no. I don't know any of these British artists (sorry) but listened to Birdy. That was good, interesting music. The snippet from the chosen artist was not.

Am I wrong in my impression that Britain, Ireland and maybe also Denmark are stuck in the pop era? Like, from quite long ago? Sometimes Ireland brings "rock light", also from long ago. Sam was also kinda in that category, but his song was unusually good! Is it just for Eurovision or is the music scene still full of girl pop and boybandish poprock light" from the 90's/00's?

I feel sorry for her tonight as it is not her fault at all. I blame TAP and BBC fir allowing rumours to get out of hand and playing with fans. It was never going to end well if they hyped it up and it doesn't live up to the hype. I hope someone is looking after Mae tonight because it can't be a nice feeling

I thought they were going to go with someone that was Brit Award nominated? The BBC talk about a new era of success in Eurovision, so why are they going with someone that not even the British music industry think much of.

Okay Rina is an amazing artist and all but I have to be honest here,

I wrote a song >>> Frankenstein bye

It will bring UK a solid top 5 result, best entry since Javine - Touch my fire

they thought that what brought them success last year is that they sent a tik tok star, so they are sending a tik tok girl now
What brought them success was Sam's incredible vocals and likeability
