Remember when Blu Hydrangea said the Frock Destroyers were selected for Eurovision 2021 but were dropped because James changed his mind and wanted to come back?? I think they deserve their shot now :ROFLMAO:

Dw sis - I getcha. Especially when Grace Carter is actually super-talented and could be a nice choice if it wasn't for the B-side album track song. Any other songs being released today that could be it, considering this was the Space Man release day last year?
I don't think "songs released on only the 22nd February each year" is a normal tactic for a broadcaster to take

Just to add to what @Sean said... why are people so convinced that 2023's campaign will be exactly the same as 2022, to the point that the song would release on the same day as Space Man?

For one, Scott Mills isn't on Radio 1 anymore. He single-handedly led the campaign last year, constantly talking about Eurovision and TaP on his show long before Sam Ryder was even his record of the week. He's barely said anything about Eurovision on Radio 2 so far - namely because I think the radio isn't a part of the TaP strategy this year. I don't think our entry will even be named as a 'record of the week' this year.

So much of the 2022 campaign - dropping Space Man onto Radio 1 without revealing it was the Eurovision entry - was because ESC was still a dirty word in the UK. In 2023 we're hosting the damn thing, why would TaP need to follow the same rules when the game has totally changed?

...I stand by the Rina Sawayama proof tweets I shared in a previous comment on here, the logic is sound and there's essentially nothing to deny it's her at this point unlike Freya, Mimi, Ellie and Grace. So what could the TaP campaign be for her?

Well, last year, TaP released Space Man on Radio 1 ahead of the Eurovision announcement to gauge the fan response. This year, I think Rina teasing Eurovision twice on her TikTok was the 'gauge fan response' plan in action. Just without Scott on Radio 1, and with BBC Radio clearly not part of the plan this year, the plan is being played out on social media instead. I maintain that Rina was selected by TaP a long time ago, TaP teasing the artist instead of the song suggests that the song has been out for a while... it'll be one of the Hold The Girl album tracks that never got released as a single or got a music video. And it will be Holy (Til You Let Me Go), a song that could easily be edited to under 3 minutes as the last 30 seconds of the song is ambient noise.

Seeing as its nearly time for our next entrant I must confess that I don't really understand what Sam Ryder did to get second, yes it was miles better than anything we have sent since 1998 and he was a wonderful ambassador for the UK at eurovision but it wasn't a second a Eurovision worthy song imo although im glad it did better than slo mo because I cant stand slo mo

IF Rina has been chosen and IF the song is one on Hold The Girl I need it to be Imagining, but Holy maybe is a bit more accessible and easier to do on stage since there is a lot of vocal production on the former.

In 2018 Fuego was slandered by eurofans as a poor song and was bottom of the betting odds until rehearsals.

SloMo wasn't a winner song either but Sam and Chanel were some of the only artists in 2022 that had full package performances and sold their songs. He was always high in the odds because of his potential but it was Turin rehearsals for both of them that made them winner potential. His Jury Final was crazy good, 100% better than the Grand Final and he was favourite to win that.

I mean Im in the very very small group of eurofans that fuego does absolutely nothing for my 2018 winner was belgium and then when she messed the staging up I wanted Austria to win, music is subjective and thats a good thing, i am glad so many loved Space Man I just wish I was one of them

No, I understand but I think Blanca Paloma "Eaea" will do better in Liverpool than people think. Many eurofans seem to disregard it based on the song but it shined at Benidorm Fest as a performance and I get goosebumps watching it and I think that's what matters to casual viewers on the night. That song will stand out no matter how many EDM style entries we get. There seemed to be a lot of people outside the eurofandom convinced that Space Man or SloMo could win based on their rehearsals.

I knew after watching the jury performance that Sam Ryder would win the jury vote, I was only a little worried about Sweden's "Hold Me Closer" possibly winning the jury vote especially when Cornelia threw in that big note at the end. But overall I was thinking the UK would either finish 1st or 2nd on Saturday night.

If it is Rina Sawayama, I think the UK could win the jury vote two years in a row, Rina is a fantastic performer.
