You joke, and I never shared it here because lord no, but way back in late 2022 I did hear Mel C rumours that actually had a shred of evidence to them (and not just the Liverpool connection).

Luckily I haven't heard anything since then, and there's no way TaP are doing that, but you'd just know if a UK local at the BBC got control of the rudder we'd end up with a Liverpool nostalgia act.

It definitely won't be Melanie C. She has a gig scheduled on 13 & 14 May in Mexico.

Okay so according to The Sun (they were one of the first to leak Sam last year) there are 4 females in the running - 2 of which are Mimi Webb and Rina Sawayama…

What ifFreya Ridings to be one of them?

She's about to release her new album in May. A week before Eurovision...could boost her career!

Freya performed Weekends on the Graham Norton show last night and I didn’t think it was that good and bless her she was drowned out by the instrumental. Rina was on it a few weeks ago and it was great. She could be a huge popstar in the UK if she was more well known.

Let's hope they choose Rina then. The Rina song that was posted in this thread would be my favorite entry by the UK ever. Another great year for the UK.

I'd never heard of Rina before all this speculation so I'm at least glad to have found her music even if she's not the representative (though I really hope she is!)

I've just seen a link to Rina on Spotify for a song called godspeed. Is it an old song? I don't have Spotify so can't check. Anyone else see it?

A pity, Freya didn´t sound great live... The moment I heard "Castles" for the very first time I immediately thought of her being a good fit for Eurovision and her latest single is good as well:

She also had like 1 major and 1 minor hit across Europe (that´s not the worst idea).
I saw her ad on FB today and she even referred to "You probably remember me because of that song" (and they played "Castles" before switching to her new single "Weekends" and announcing her new album "Blood Orange").

Don’t take this as 100% it was posted on BuzzJack;

Miracles is labelled Ellie Goulding & Calvin Harris. And is being premiered on The One Show March 9th with Tap Management also attending.
To be fair, the previews for this song does sound really good, I would be shocked if it is actually Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris.

Miracle sounds great, but that's the sort of song that typically does horribly at Eurovision AND Ellie Goulding isn't exactly the strongest live vocalist.

And obviously on top of that both are just way way WAY too big to do Eurovision. Maybe an interval act, but they're not it.

Some people are now suggesting that Birdy might be our representative. She has a song out next Friday called Raincatchers and some very observant people have said she has gaps at crucial times in her touring schedule, such as when the pre parties happen and she has apparently been working with Tap on something. ESC Crystal Ball recently started following her.

I don't mind the snippet of that song I heard earlier - but I think her style has been done before at ESC and it only really ever gets mid table at best.

Interesting. I really love "Skinny Love" and "People Help the People". I must admit I didn't follow her music after that. But she is a credible artist, so I am sure if she is selected, it is going to be quality.
