I mean the fact that Radio One and Two are joining forces, tells you the BBC are proper taking it seriously.

Radio One would certainly not promote anything that is dated.

Im very interested to see what our entry will be this year.

I'm not that positive about the way it is being announced, why announce it at a mystery time on a Thursday morning on the radio, when the majority of people are at work? And are those not at work expected to listen to Radio One the entire morning until it is announced? I would think that indicates it is a complete unknown it isn't worth making a big announcement for, but I could be wrong.

Blue got an hour long documentary (it had already leaked long before then but still!) and Molly and Electro Velvet got short programmes introducing their songs, so radio on a work day seems a massive step back, when they could have easily put a music video or performance in the gap between The Greatest Dancer and Pointless tonight.

Its being announced simultaneously on two of the UK's biggest radio shows with a combined audience of nearly 13 million people, even a low ball number of people listening would still make for more people finding out about it at the same time than if it was done on a short red button/You Tube stream.

Also, this may or may not be from the artwork to the single version of the track:

It tells us nothing but lets speculate!

Im reserving my judgement on the song until its formally revealed but broadcasting it on Radio One as well as Radio Two is a major step up for the BBC and suggests something interesting is being lined up.

But Lets wait and see what happens, it might end up to be another boring entry again.

Okay... So we need to look at FACTS!

In the words of Ken Jeong... I KNOW EXACTLY WHO THIS IS

Today minutes after Nanne was eliminated from MF the BBC announce they are now ready to reveal who the representative is...

Nanne ended 4th in the UK final in 2001... Logic dictates she was internally selected in 2020

The key thing with Radio is numbers...

Greg James Breakfast show get around 5 million listeners and Ken Bruce about 8 million. Having up to 13 million listeners hearing our entry that cover two very different but key consumer demographics as well as potential viewers for the final. BBC 1 mainly has listeners aged between 15-24 yr olds and BBC 2 covers a bigger range of 35-60+ yr olds.

Also launching on a Thursday helps with potential charting on the digital only charts that go out on the Friday, but that's only if BMG release for sale and streaming on Thursday too.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we also get a live performance on Thursday or Friday on say One Show or possibly Graham Norton, but latter is probably less likely.

So from now till Thursday (or until it leaks) every fan in the UK is going to be making Venn diagrams of all the Radio 1 friendly and Radio 2 friendly artists to try and figure out who it might be.

Looking at the stations playlists for this week, the artists that are on both are:

Dua Lipa - Physical
Becky Hill (feat. Shift K3Y) - Better Off Without You
Lizzo - Cuz I Love You
Jona Brothers - What a Man Gotta Do
Billie Ellish - No Time to Die
Sam Smith - To Die For

It won't be anything of these artist but it does give us an idea of the type of artists with crossover appeal.

But in all seriousness, my expectations are through the roof now, I just want the UK to do well for once. Thursday is gonna be either the best day of the entire Eurovision season or the worst. The UK and Germany promised me the world but so did France and meh...
