Is that link serious? Are they seriously bringing politics and refurendums into it now? :O

What do you mean by a sneerfest?

YouGov is one of the main opinion polls for politics. They always add a light relief / trivial question in for fun, this week they put in Eurovision. Considering 21% of 16-24 want us to not take part compared to 50% of 65+ wanting us to pull out it says it all again with what the BBC should be doing. 45% 16-24 want us to take part vs older groups where only 13% want us to take part.

They were sneering on twitter and radio they had to play Only Teardrops 'errmm Eurovision right....' (add sarcasm) that sort of thing.

Yeah they are. They wouldn't even play Alexandra Burke's single last year, which was around the same time as Euphoria's success, which also was hardly ever played.

It's just a shame this year, Only Teardrops is falling really quick in only its first week.

Oh, haven't you heard? BBC are going hip and cool - they're choosing an X-Factor contestant xshock ... the highly popular Christopher Maloney

In all seriousness, I do think the BBC will end up choosing someone like Maloney. Younger than Bonnie and Dinck, but still stuck in 80s.

I hope UK would have a national final, instead of choosing internally.

I actually don't think that's the best solution for the UK, I think their main issue is BBC's whole approach and attitude towards the contest.

If they choose through a national final, I'm afraid they might be sending joke songs again like Scooch or the weak 2006 rap song :?

Yeah, I actually don't think a national final is the best solution for the UK.

I actually think they should stick to internally choosing, or perhaps let BBC1 Radio choose like 5 songs that could compete.

Again, the attitude and approach towards ESC is what need to be changed in the UK, only then something good can come out with it.

I still think BBC1 Radio should be involved in the choosing process and take the lead here rather than BBC TV, and then when the song/s chosen the BBC TV can take over and present them on a show, but the co-operation between radio and TV should be strong... it's the only way to guarantee some sort of credibility and a chance of radio actually finally backing up atleast the UK entry.

I think a national final would be fine for us, as long as someone filters out all the rubbish ones!

Of course national final is good way, but BBC must qualify only good songs. British songs is very good, so it's can't be problem ;)

Get Calvin Harris or David Guetta to write a song and we'd win for sure or at least come top ten.

David Guetta is French, so I'd rather take a Scot (Calvin Harris) then for the UK... would make more sense.

But, knowing BBC it'll probably be something without completely out of touch again xshrug

The Swedes write for other countries and Ronan Keating co-wrote a song for Denmark so I see no problem with a Frenchman writing the UK entry.

And that's a good thing?

I'm one of those that want EBU to add new rules to prevent shopping entries from abroad xshrug

And btw David Guetta is sorta passé now, Harris is better...
