See we could send the winner of The Voice that would be a good idea.

Winner of The Voice + song composed by very talented singer/composer (e.g. Adam Anderson, he was telling about Eurovision with great enthusiasm). Why not ?

David Guetta is French

If he has to compose a song for the Eurovision, then he better write one for Christophe Willem to sing it

Only if the SONG is good...

That's the most crucial part for the UK, to find a good entry...

And coming from "The Voice", it would probably just end up being another dated cheese ballad :(

However, if the BBC would find a fresh and contemporary sounding, catchy enough, original enough (to stand out), song for the winner of this show... then sure go ahead! But BBC need to be looking for songwriters/composers/producers firstly ... a good voice is not enough if the song will once again suck xshrug

Moving The Voice to Q1 of the year and linking it with Eurovision would sort out a lot of problems with The Voice. As A-Lister says there would be a fear of having a naff ballad winning like Leanne over better contemporary acts such as Tyler, Bo and Vince in the final. Plus nobody in this years Voice has any stage charisma which in itself would be a disaster.

The BBC are more than aware of what they can do to do well, the thing is they just don't want to.

In regards to what you said about The Voice, I think the BBC are doing just that (moving it to Q1).

They are holding open auditions this summer, which seems very early to me. Maybe they are looking to launch it in January next year so that it doesn't compete directly with Britain's Got Talent.

Yup it needs to be Q1 to avoid BGT, avoids the Eurovision clash and darker nights for more viewers. The only clash they'd have is one six nations match which is easier to schedule around. If they do this the possibility of sending a Voice act could increase. Though Universal may not be keen on the idea they would probably do better by a quick cash in at ESC than a cash in here. As Bonnie said it's all about business.

What the heck is Q1?

Quite annoying how Eurovision is always on the same time as Britain's Got Talent. What if it was the final of BGT on the same night as Eurovision? The Voice would be a good way of sending a Eurovision entry as long it doesn't clash with Britain's Got Talent as that would split the viewing and not enough interest would be made. Would it still have the same format and same judges, etc?

Q1 is quarter 1 of the year so Jan Feb Mar where there is little entertainment on TV hence why The Voice may work better there

And this says it all about Eurovision vs The Voice in terms on interest this time of year

Voice 2 hour show - 5.89million against football that rated 5.75 million - Eurovision 7.70 3 hour show against the likes of BGT rating 9.9 million. The eggs are in the wrong basket and they just can't see it.

Please United Kingdom, send the best you have. I want you to win and than LONDON 2015!!

No concessions like a circus act that is not you. Plain good music (and good vocals) is what I long for.

Trust me, we really want to compete and bring everything we have.
Unfortunately the BBC are the only people not behind us. :(

Let the flame war begin

Are you talking about Alexandra Burke? I believe she's trying to break the US and is suppose to release an album this fall. She has no song on radio so that's going to flop as bad as her last UK album did. Funny thing is she still probably thinks she's too good for Eurovision so maybe you need to give it a few more years before she comes to the realization that no she actually isn't. xshrug

I got the same vibe from Leanne Mitchell and Diana Vickers too when they were denying participation, despite no big career they still think their above Eurovision too. Its amazing not only do the big stars think their too big for ESC even the Voice/X-Factor flops think the same thing too!

Simon Cowell wants to find 'right artist' for Eurovision - Music News - Digital Spy

Cowell is offering to find the right artist and song now. God forbid
And you think he'd do a worse job than the BBC have been doing?
Let's not forget, like him or not, this man is responsible for some of the biggest names in music right now and he'd know how to get Europe voting for his acts.

We need all the help we can get to turn this thing around and I personally would welcome Cowell completely to this task. This is not the first time he has said this, either.
