He does NOT know what people want. He's all about smoke screens and mirrors claiming to know what's best and the gullible public eat it up. Yes its always been like that in the industry but no other manager signs and drops acts as fast as he does. His primary targets are the teen girls and grandmas who are the most easy to fool and that only works for a short period of time. None of his acts have credibility for a reason.

He was able to fool people into believing Leona Lewis was the next Mariah by shoving it down everyone's throat and building walls around her charisma free ZERO personally. That's why her first era was so successful but after the smoke cleared people realized she's nothing special and now she's flopping. Joe McElderry was the perfect one man Westlife but came off as too camp and gay (a HIGH offence in Cowell land) so he flopped and got dropped. One Direction are five charisma free boys with no stage presence (see the pattern forming) with only two average singers and three pointless hang on members. They were lucky to come at the right time to fill the gap in the market that wasn't filled cause if America had a boyband like in the late 90s they most certainly would have flopped. They put out an album every year cause he knows they have no future and their well is drying fast.

He knows nothing except the fast quick buck, claims they are the next big thing and then one speed bump drops them like a potato from the next big thing. If he was as brilliant as his reputation claims it is then a majority of his acts would last more than 3-4 years.

Right because the BBC really know what people want also, and it's not like the UK public can be trusted choosing an act (see Scooch). Also Leona could've been more successful if she was promoted more after her second album. Also what the hell has the whole bit about Joe McElderry and One Direction got to do with Eurovision, you don't have to release multiple albums for a Eurovision entry.

The annual Simon Cowell rumor I see? ... almost as "likely" as the annual Adele wishful-thinkings

It isn't even a rumour, it comes from the horses mouth that anyone can see on his verified websites or twitter account. The BBC just aren't interested in taking him up on the offer.

I see

Well, not a fan of Cowell, but it's not as if BBC handled this much better... and they seem to be some odd-heads there choosing Humperdinck and Tyler over Katie Melua and Hurt (the latter two have apparently chosen some interest in entering ESC at some time atleast)...

Yeah it's sort of like a sketch this time of year. Pretty much it comes down to

BBC 'ugh Eurovision what do we need to do?'
Act 1 'we're interested'
BBC 'Anyone want to do Eurovision? anyone at all?'
Act 2 'You can ask me'
BBC 'Nobody wants to sing infront of millions, get some exposure'
Act 3 'There is no stigma with Eurovision now, wouldn't mind being asked'
BBC ' Nobody wants to do it when we ask *sobs*'
Act 4 'I can find the UK a good song'
BBC 'Nope, no interest at all. Who should have a day out from their care home this year'
All Acts 'FFS'

I've resolved to ignore all rumours/suggestions for modern acts and instead focus entirely on the more worthwhile task of guessing which hasbeen we'll dredge up for Eurovision duty in 2014.

First guess: Shakin' Stevens

We had a 60s/70s hasbeen and an 80s hasbeen. Time for the 90s now.

I bet the BBC are in contact with Chesney Hawkes as we speak.

Sophie said last year that she wouldn't do it.

I know :( And I think she's stupid because she attempts to relaunch herself for years, always without success XD

If we're guessing acts then i honestly don't have the first clue who could be. I would prefer for a national final return - Belgium are going back to the national final which is the first since 2008. Maybe this will inspire BBC to stop playing silly beggers and bring it back.

It all depends if they move The Voice to the start of the year in NF stakes. With the ratings the way they are The Voice really needs to be starting Jan 4th to help it out.

We should only have a national final if there's an open submission process. The BBC picking NF artists is way worse than the BBC picking an internal selection.

adele will be in eurovision 2045

When Shes past it? haha :)

2030 is an attempt at a Westlife come back.

Well if The Voice hosted it then it would be open. But seriously for the Voice to choose it, they will have to get rid of the Judges they severely irritate me.

The year they do it is the year I stop watching :(

If we go back to a national final, I think it ought to be closer to the format used in 2009, and completely open auditions... surprise surprise, kinda like The Voice *cough*

I agree with you all the way. The voice would be ideal for it, its like what happens to the winners now? absolutely nothing so the eurovision would fill that greatly. The only i can pick about the voice doing is that i cannot abide the voice. Its so boring and the judges do my head in. It would be so much fun with a couple of terrible singers slung in.

You see, I can't stand X-Factor for the terrible singers and camp/ comedy stuff. That's why, for me, the auditions are the worst part.
I have respect for The Voice attempting to actually focussing on the talent and not exploiting people for a cheap life or bit of tacky entertainment. But the format is too extended and dull. Typical broadcasting of the BBC to be fair, they don't listen to people's complaints until they've literally lost all their viewers, and then they wonder why the fixes they make don't work.
Basically the same as what they're doing with Eurovision, unfortunately other broadcasters send good stuff (increasingly) meaning the viewers won't drop for the contest, also making me fear that the BBC will never wake up and smell the coffee.
