@ Ashley

Where are you from in the UK?

I live in a town called Grimsby in Lincolnshire which is in England.

Here is a map to show you whereabouts.

no problem. Grimsby is bit of a dump these days, but it has an amazing history. It use to have the biggest fishing port in the world at one point, and as an iconic building called the Dock Tower. Which during WW2 the government were contemplating pulling it down because the Germans were using it as a guide of where they are while on their way to bomb Hull, so we nearly lost it :( The town was even founded by the Danes back in the days of pillaging and what not so we have Danish ancestry here

I get the feeling the BBC just loves seeing the meltdowns their lazy picks get every year and to them that's more entertaining then the actual show itself. xpoke

BBC executive: Lets ask Bonnie Tyler this year, she has a HUGE international following!!!
BBC junior ex: But she hasn't been successful in over two decades!! Remember we tried that with Englebert last year and it failed!
BBC ex: Waste money making people happy and still flop or flop but get entertained by the outcry that's guaranteed to happen anyway? Choose!
BBC junior: BONNIE TYLER IT IS!!!

queue meltdowns from ESC fans & press in 3...2...1

More likely...

BBC exec: Let's get Bonnie Tyler. Gays like her.
BBC junior exec: Good idea.

Isn't that what their blogger Dr Eurovision said 'gays will love her' as a clue. It is just plain insulting really. It has become and excercise of box ticking
- Known name for faux credebility
- Known in Europe so press release can say bloc voting won't happen
- A song singing about how they can, believe, do, will or love only
- Preferable gay following.
- Nothing that can challenge the perceived Eurovision sound
- Can not sing so god forbid they may actually vote for us.
- Announce in March so fans, ESC press and British tabloids can't critique the decision.

Chris Maloney? Oh wow. Just no.

I imagine the BBC execs really don't give a flying **** anymore. This is how I imagine the conversation to be...

Bbc exec: Have you found an entry yet?
Junior: Yes, a new wave, dubstep pop act who sound really cool, can write a pop song and would love to do the contest
Bbc exec:............
Junior: Or we do have Hazel Dean
Bbc: That'll do

It's the BBC that have driven the optimism down for Eurovision fans in this country! We could be more optimistic about our entry if we didn't have it already considered in the back of our mind that it'll be a sub-par choice.
