I can't think this will do any good to their careers at all lol. We've definitely kissed goodbye to anyone well known representing us again in the near future. Maybe that's not such a bad thing for us fans who will support whoever we send but for casual fans it's a disaster. There was a real interest in the UK this year with Blue and Jedward but this result will have confirmed what most people already thought. Here's hoping for a better year next year, I don't even really care where the UK finish as long as my favourites all do considerably better next year haha disaster year for me!!! Haven't had such a poor turnout for my faves since 2006!

It is a disaster for Eurovision's reputation and I can understand people feeling so, we tried harder than we've ever tried this year and managed only 3 points more than Moldova... :?. I guess it depends on what happens to Blue now, if they crash and burn then that's it really xcry.

xhug

I don't think it will be bad for Blue though. They have a good song and even if it didn't win the contest, it can be a huge hit like Jessy Matador last year.

Ah well, another year another Eurovision. I think Blue were hard done by tonight, feel they could have finished a little bit higher (above Ireland) but their performance wasn't going to win, it was a little off and their mics sounded a bit too quiet... Still it could be ALOT worse, look at France and Estonia!
Bloc voting didn't hurt us as much as it could have, but i think it was rampant tonight and very very embarrassing (everyone was doing it!.. well apart from Ireland, cheers for that btw...).

---
So, who for next year? Take That? Adele? Only two artists at the moment that stand any chance of winning it.. BBC need to go to them, get on their knees and beg for their lives! Offer them anything, six prime time shows on BBC One, BBC staff running naked through westminster.. Anything! :p!

I was a nice performance, thought they would end up somewhere in the top 10 but 11th is not too shabby either! Hopefully the BBC doesn't fall back into their usual rut.

Maybe if Lee sang better you might have got more points from Ireland. Also only immigrants televote in Ireland, I know very few Irish people who actually vote, hence why Lithuania always receive high points from Ireland.

I also imagine most of the people in the UK who vote for Ireland are actually from Northern Ireland anyway so are basically Irish voting for themselves.

Ireland's backing singers sang great hence why we got 3 sets of 12. And the staging was good, those 4 screens behind Blue with their faces looked awful tbh, completely wasted the potential of the main screen.

The top 5 was pretty reasonable except for Ukraine which was very bland.

I don`t understand why do you want to win so much. You have Olympics to host, you had a royal wedding. Do you think it`ll be easy for BBC if they have to host also an ESC? After all, this are british taxpayers money. IF UK wins, they`ll need more taxpayers money to organize the whole thing.

I knew UK wont win since the beggining, but I see UK actually winning next year (IF you send a good song, performed from a good singer with a balanced show, cause tonight the show was...too much)

I fail to see how anyone can say that Blue did well in the final vocally. Everyone in my family was watching and they were appalled by Blue's vocals. I didn't expect much from them, but that performance was a disgrace and they were lucky to get 11th.

Completely agree the backing singers were great, they took alot of the slack left by jedward and the four screens were o_O?! Same goes with the whole stage being in green, stupid when the group's called Blue(the thanks was a rib btw >.<, fair play to Jedward, they make me feel exhausted but hey, their doing what millions can't).

Noticed with Germany that the backing dancers were basically on screen aswell as with her. I know theres a rule with dancers on stage, but im surprised that they were allowed so many images of people dancing on the screen, same with Jedward, the backing while great did kinda detract from what was going on. Mind same can be said with those screens.. what were up with them o_O

I think Blue failed because of the performance. I was disappointed today. The vocals weren't good and it just wasn't wow. You should have been 10th though and in front of the Irish weirdos.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF EVERY FANBOY/FANGIRL

Samb TOLD YOU Blue would crumble...you said otherwise - where will you hide now? Poor performance on the night + poor backing on screens = novilty act and NO accountability to the public.

How many of you will now step up to the plate and support an open contest? Rather than supporting your beloved BBC?

Time for United Kingdom to face up to the facts! And deluded UK supporters!

Early start to esctoday for me. Can't sleep due to an itchy throat from hayfever so may aswell do something to keep me busy!

Anyway, just looking on twitter, simon webbe appears to be taking it well. He tweeted 'a statement was made. We made the left side of the board!'. Duncan James also said that making 100 points was respectable. At least they seemed pleased with their position.

Let's just hope that the british media see it the same way and that blue can make a good positive comeback.

I think the result is great compared to the result from (let`s say) last year...
But I believe what UK showed yesterday is only the begining. If they continue in the same direction, who knows, maybe ESC will come to London :)

Look at Azerbaijan, they didn`t gave up, they invested many resources in their performances and they won :)

Awww and you are welcome for the 12 points BTW :)

I'm kinda disappointed as I thought it was quite a solid performance (some parts were a bit quiet I guess, but still) but 11th isn't anything to complain about at all given what we've done recently :p

I just hope to God that the BBC have learned that if they put the effort into finding a decent song with a big name they will get results to show that. If they drag someone off the street to sing 3 minutes of cheese they'll come last.

So what does everyone else think we should hope for? Internal selection again or public vote?

As for the song, UK does Indie well. Would it work at Eurovision?

Why are people treating this like a disaster? The UK's recent ESC record is terrible, so coming 11th must be a welcome change, especially considering how the other favourites did... The presentation on stage was bad. The song was boring. The vocals weren't perfect.
I hope the BBC don't go back to their annual Let's Pick Someone No One's Ever Heard Of And Make Them Sing A Song That You Would Only Sing When Drunk contest. I'd love to see the BBC do something less middle of the road and take a risk with an entry, like what RTE did this year, otherwise the UK will continue to get poor results from poor pop songs.

They weren't really a huge favorite as let's say France, some fans just got they're hopes up.

I think 11th is an okay result for this entry, wasn't swept away and a bit 90s. However I think you are on spiral upwards from now on :)
