I will just say one thing relating to UK entries in the past - when you had bad entries you failed, when you had a great entry (2009) you did a top 5. Starting from 2002 'till now, only two more songs deserved better results and those are "Hold On To Our Love" (2004) and perhaps "Teenage Life" (2006) for its originality. Those two I liked, and they were in my top 10 of the year, so those are the only songs that should've got a better result imo, but everything else was simply bad. I personally don't think BBC gave their best, actually I think they didn't give even 10% in selections where you finished in a bad position (and especially not in 2008 and 2010), and if they were more serious back then maybe you would've had another great result. The choice of Blue this year is certainly a sign that things are taken serious again, but I will have a final say after I hear the entry.

I think it's pretty much nonsense to complain about bloc voting nowadays, as Germany proved last year that ANY song can win, ANY song that is good. It is not enough to get points from the "diaspora", you must get points from everyone or almost everyone in order to do well. Serbia didn't hit top 10, and missed out on qualification when we sent "Cipela", but we were #2, #1, and #6 when most people thought we had great entries :)

Oh, and I think that the British "perspective" of the contest which was mentioned before is like that, because BBC wanted it to be like that, to cover up their own mistakes. First they are mocking the other performers and the whole contest, and then they expect to do well with a cheap and bad entry. Well, it's not functioning that way, and they know that :) We all know that. That would be like if you expect to pass an exam from nuclear physics but you think it's funny, ridiculous and you will study "just a bit", maybe you will pass. Pure nonsense.

That is why I like Blue's attitude to the contest.

Well said Milos!

I would change 2006 to 2005 though, but other than that you're spot on!

I didn't like 2009 either though. For me the only "serious" in that was the songwriter, the good singer and the promo tour, while the song itself didn't sound like anything from the past decade lol.

This year though, I feel like BBC's approach is finally changing a bit.

Well 2008 NF was the most embarassing possible, everything there was destined bottom 5. I'm glad Blue have a good attitude as radio 1 said "we are actually taking it seriously? (woman in shock!) wow good luck to blue" so

I thought they already mentioned they'll go on a promo tour for Eurovision??

And it seems like BBC will make it a reality show following them.

I've read on another forum that the radio premier will be on February 22th on Radio 1.
not sure how accurate it is.

Blue's Antony Costa urinates at cash machine

According to the Sunday Mirror, it could cause the BBC a re-think as he has broken at least one law and there have been complaints from the Post Office and the club opposite with Scotland Yard investigating.

Wow. He's actually withdrawing money midstream. And they say men can't multitask.

As hilarious as it would be if BBC barred Blue from Eurovision for public urination, I don't see it happening. I suspect it was just The Sunday Mirror's way of dressing up the story as journalism.

I stopped reading after that line
Every newspaper which has "Mirror" in its name is not worth of my time.

The Daily Mirror is literally AMAZING :p .

But it's also been reported in its big rival The Sun - apparently the BBC are hugely embarrassed and annoyed, not to even mention what the other guys in Blue think.
