Hmm, I'm not sure what to think of them yet but the fact they were kinda popular in the past gives me a bit of hope... I don't like boy bands in general, though.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

Just did a bit of wiki research and it seems they've had quite a bit of euro success, their greatest hits even hit #1 in italy, lots of top 10 albums across the continent too such as Germany and that's only the bigger music markets that are mentioned so I'd imagine they'd have had similar success in smaller countries. Definitely positive as it means they are at least known across europe which has to be good, just having andrew lloyd webber as the writer of 2009's song created a UK media buzz so having our actual act as the buzz can only be good for us! I hope it's confirmed soon now!

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

British Boyband Blue will reform to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Dusseldorf. They will perform a new song and as such, there will be no national selection show for the country this year. It is the first time since Frances Ruffelle represented the country in 1994 that the public has not chosen the artist to represent Britain. The BBC are expected to confirm the news later this evening and the story is now published in the Sunday Mirror.

Blue consists of Simon Webbe, Antony Costa, Duncan James and Lee Ryan. Having already announced plans to record new material in 2009 and after a successful performance at Capital FM’s Summertime ball and Silverstone Classic Festival in 2009 Blue will be coming back with a brand new song.

Blue was formed in 2001 and up until 2005 they had a hugely successful career selling over 13 million albums across Europe. They have had three UK number one studio albums and have sold 10x platinum in the UK and 4x platinum in Europe. They have also had 3 Uk number 1 singles and a further 8 top 10 hits. The band has sung duets with artists such as Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Kool & the Gang.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

It's on Eurovision.tv with a question-mark, I guess it's true then since the official site don't post rumors as news.

It's not the worst thing that could happen. They were one of the better boybands, good-looking fellows and I guess they can sing. But the song is offcourse the most important bit, but looking at their back-catalogue it could turn out ok.

I kinda cross my fingers that someone better will be announced instead though by the BBC.

I'll have to hear the song they come up with to judge this choice. At face value it just seems like the BBC chose an outdated act but its the song that matters.

Ah ********************.

In a weird situation, because I hate the choice, but need them to do well. Otherwise no decent artist will ever touch Eurovision in the future.

I say it is a nice choice. Although, everything depends on the song. I think it will be something catchy. :)

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

I doubt blue would put there name out with a crap song, they will only have done it if there was an amazing song... So fingers crossed xD Otherwise UK won't get anyone famous again.
