Hmmm, interesting.
If such kind of song would be chosen then she should hope for the juries. I like it but I wouldn't listen to it on repeat.

Hmm I guess Adele would not be interested? Her current single is just brilliant! It would win Eurovision:

BBC are expected to make an announcement this week - but it'll mostlikely be Charlotte Church who'll represent us.

....:p

C'mon BBC, don't keep us in the dark :/

According to the BBC ents team who messaged me on twitter:

All ESC decisions are made secretly in a tobacco-stained cupboard on the 5th floor. As soon as we know anything, we'll tell you!

^^ lol

I wish they'd hurry up and tell us what's what.
The longer they make us wait, the bigger the disappointment will be,I fear.

^ haha! You'd do well!! :D

I really wanna win this year, so we can host in the Olympic year. I dont really care who the singer is (but preferably a fit guy :p), just so long as it's a great song and they can actually sing! Maybe we should get Josh back with a great song? He did us proud and deserves another shot at it :).

I think if the UK don't at least come up with an average song and singer this year, they should just withdraw. I mean, lets not waste anyones time anymore with amateur singers and beyond terrible songs. Last year, UK was a real low point in the broadcast.

The BBC won't wanna host during Olympic year & there company move year lol. They want a respectable position like the lower top 10 xD But if we withdrew "evilperson20" the price for the rest of the countries would increase so it's worthwhile having us. And If Jedward for Ireland and the UK predicted to do well this year.. the viewers will come rolling in. And bearing in mind the fee for ESC matches the same as Casualty (50 mins on a Saturday Night) we'll be here a while longer. Just fingers crossed that ITV have something awful on that evening :p

Exactly, everybody else would have to pay more and also I find it disrespectful for somebody to claim we should withdraw - been participating since 1950's, over 50 entries and 5 wins, we're one of the historic Eurovision countries and also it's not as if we send the worst entries out of the 40 countries who participate. And then everybody else wonders why we dont take Eurovision seriously and dont try hard... you dont want us then it's Eurovision's loss.

We all know ITV will put something 'good' on, probably some special or something .

she is a good singer,I like this song. Also Adele has a particular voice...England has always had good musicians. So it is so sure that Charlotte will take part at the Esc?

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

I'd never encourage a country to withdraw, especially not the United Kingdom who are just a big part of the contest. I agree that over the past years the UK hasn't taken the contest very seriously (they never really did but it's gotten to a point where it's almost laughable).

And I'm sorry but last year was a disaster and definately the weakest song in the finals with a singer whose vocals weren't bad but had no stage presence whatsover, incredibly amateurish.

But at the same time, in 2009 the U.K. had a good song and an amazing singer and they ended up in the Top 5. So we all know they have the potential and talent to make it all the way to the top but somebody has to step up and do something about the quality of the songs and singers chosen.

But I predict that the U.K. will have a big comeback soon. Maybe this year, maybe next year but they are not going anywhwere and i'm thankful for that.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

The BBC had a stupid concept in their mind last year that any old famous songwriter would automatically put us in the Top 5 but I think something's shocked them into thinking this year that a good song might not be amiss too. Josh was a charismatic performer and he sung very well but it's just unfortunate he got lumbered with a terrible song I'd consider poor even by Waterman standards.

This year it seems if the rumours turn out to be true then the BBC don't want to embarass themselves with it anymore. As Martin said above Eurovision is a really cheap 3 hour show for the channel that rakes in millions of viewers every year so we're definitely not going anywhere soon. And I'm pretty sure if we did then the contest would die without our money, or at least the fees will be much higher for others which will lead to withdrawals.
