really? the saturdays are AWFUL live :/

They're not much better in the studio versions. Mehe

Nah I jest, they can be alright, but I'd rather something edgier for ESC:)

Well, the first five of those are owned by Simon Cowell, so wouldn't be allowed to go near Eurovision and Lily Allen is currently retired. Amy Winehouse might be okay if you could somehow manage to get her to the stage sober. Would Eurovision rules allow her to just ignore her backing track and instead scream "Blake!" for three minutes?

I like the sound of this rumour, though.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

Yup, you’d be hard pressed to convince Count Cowell to allow any of his stars to go anywhere near Dusseldorf in 2011. Not that they have freedom of movement anyway. They’re probably all chained up to his platinum-plated bathtub of commercial greed, as he lays languidly in its hot waters, being fed grapes off the vine by Shane Ward, who is wearing nothing but a leather thong and a bow-tie...

Anyhow, it's very unlikely that any of those stars will (or would be allowed) to do it.

Hmm Charlotte Church, I may not like her music but she's a sound choice for ESC.

I can't help but laugh at the Morrisey rumour train that comes out every year, irrespective of the fact he downright refused to do it in 2007. There's also a petition to get Muse to do ESC, while they could do the contest without it 'tarnisihing' their reputation as stars (and sales figures), again, there's more of a chance of pigs flying, David Cameron not being a Sim and the UK Eurovision entry for 2011 actually being good. :p

Out of the 3 rumoured ones, I hope to see PIXIE LOTT! Love her songs "Mama Do" and "Cry Me Out". Also, Katherine Jenkins would be a nice choice, considering what I've heard in NSC by her... I know the least of Charlotte Church but she looks and sounds at least decent. ;)

Hmm Simon Cowell wrote last year he would like to give Eurovision a shot (after insulting watermans song quite badly.. can you blame him?!), using Alexandra or Olly (someone with not many previous Europe chart hits) would be a good move from him. And i mean with performances like this he'd be on to a winner.
The bigger problem is Simon would ask for A LOT of money. A song like "Perfect" from Alexandra's new album would be excellent :p

I think Alexandra Burke is almost certainly a no no. I dont feel she would want to do it herself, never mind Cowell wanting to take that risk with her. Olly, perhaps more likely but he is an up and coming star and I dont think they'd want to potentially ruin is bright future career.
I think more likely acts if Simon Cowell got involved would be the likes of Aiden Grimshaw, Diva Fever, Stacey Solomon, Danyl Johnson, Lloyd Daniels, Jedward, Eoghan Quigg, Same Difference etc.

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

But they are who would be chosen ;).
And ya know, most of them are good singers, just happen to not have had big recording contracts. They could still do well representing the country at Eurovision ;).

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

Considering Jedward is the only one of those i've heard.. and they suck i don't really think any of them would do good. Even if Jedward are attempting to represent Ireland this year

Imo Diva Fever is the most likely from ex-X Factor contestants - people would see them as perfect for Eurovision and Simon really likes them ;).

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

If "people" (meaning you usually) would see them perfect for eurovision then we are looking at a camp set of guys performing camp songs am i correct? :p i don't mean that rudely but that's not what we should be sending

Re: UNITED KINGDOM 2011

Diva Fever would be top a candidate if the UK was aiming for last place again.

Who cares about who ends up singing the song at the end of the day just as long as it is someone with a decent vocal. The problem with the UK seems to be finding a song.

People meaning the general public who watch Eurovision but are not fans. They see Eurovision as being a festival of camp so they'd view them as perfect ;).
Id rather have a nobody singing a ballad or a good pop song myself, but Im just stating what's most likely :).
