Not to get ahead if ourselves, but a win is not completely out of the question at this point (and it's fun to speculate), so where would Ukraine host next year? Kyiv again or do they the appropriate facilities elsewhere now too?

Not to be a Debbie downer but it won't win, but if we just talk for fun then Lviv, Lviv and Lviv!

They can win! There is no way entries like Malta get more t/v than Ukraine and the staging is so good that juries cannot ignore it!
I believe the juries will slaughter this. They prefer generic stuff like :se: (although I personally like :se: a lot, it's nothing special compared to :ua:) and they don't like original stuff like this. I think it will be like  in 2019, although the songs aren't similar at all, I think they both have something the audience will like and the juries will ignore. I hope I'm wrong!

hold up girl we've seen similar situations before. :censored:
however i'm still happy since it's very probable that GO_A will finish top5 even top3, when bookies were sleeping on it for months and I was afraid that a NQ would happen.
idk about juries but I saw someone on twitter say GO_A is gonna KEiiNO and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I think they were easily the televote winner last night, if not the 2nd place.

Gosh what I wouldn't give to experience this absolute masterpiece in the eurovision arena xbow

I was thinking, the jury members will surely know by Friday how much of a hit this was with the public. Even if some of them didn't fully appreciate it on Monday, I think the overwhelming public support will have an influence on their voting (even if subconscious) on Friday. They too want to feel hip and trendy. And what better way to feel it than by showing everyone you "got" that avant garde rave number.

Juries won't place Ukraine 1st but a 3rd place could be enough with a huge t/v which seems to be possible after the semi. The staging, vocals etc are too great to be ignored by juries. They are contenders but even if they don't win they are still top5.
Meanwhile if juries really push Sweden or Malta in the 1st place in the final then they may actually help Ukraine since Sweden and Malta probably don't have that much power on t/v.

Also, I don't know if Keiino is a good comparison because I don't think Keiino had the kind of buzz after their semi performance. Their televote win was a surprise.

I think a better comparison is Fuego. I know it ultimately didn't win, and Ukraine probably won't either, but it's a similar kind of surprise hype that came from the semi performance. It did better in the jury vote in the final than it did in the semi. Part of it, I think, was because it was now seen as a serious contender.

You're right on that. I think the better comparison for me would be Rise Like A Phoenix. I don't remember the bookies/juries attitude towards Austria in 2014 but it was a fave for me all along and though I was expecting a top 10 I was totally shocked to see it win

You're right about Austria. It wasn't in the conversation until at least the rehearsals, maybe even the semi itself. The reason I didn't use it as an example is because it's a mainstream ballad and the juries aren't as averse to those as, say, slutpop or folk. Once it became a contender, it was easy to see juries voting for it.

Ukraine may break the 400 points in the televote and that would be for sure enough to WIN

Juries wanting to feel hip and trendy and "in" with the public? Are we talking about the same people? xshrug

In the minds of these grandmas, a safe radio Pop in English from mid 00s or a pastiche ballad is the most "hip and trendy" they'd get

Ukraine is trending on Youtube in Germany alongside Russia  Those two entries surprised me the most yesterday, I liked them before, but they are not songs I'd listen to regularly.

Would be a lie if I didn't say they worked the stage however. Absolute bangers.

Why do you think they keep voting for Sweden? Lol.

Surely there are some jurors who want to feel hip. Idk, maybe not.

Ukraine, of course
I mean I've visited it twice already, and I've also been in Kyiv and Odessa, Lviv is by far having the best atmosphere and Kyiv already hosted twice.
Right? I've traveled a lot in Ukraine, but Lviv has its own special atmosphere - cozy, creative and mysterious. The perfect place to invite foreign guests. They definitely gonna fell in love with Lviv. Yeah, i think Kyiv should make room for other cities. xangel

The idea of L'viv 2022 sounds very exciting to me. Ukraine is one of the few European countries I have not visited so far, but I should have. It's overdue and very friendly for my budget. And L'viv has some Habsburg heritage.
